Henry has now left the building tearing up his membership card as an act of defiance then walked off into the sunset with his silver tongued lover Ms Marney.
Just wiping a tear from my eye as I type.

for consistency shouldn't m Ripley and Mr Glazier go for a by election as they were supported/voted in/leafleted by UKIP
Anyone UKIP must be disappointed they voted in a UKIP team and they crossed the floor without a chance of being replaced or voted in again as independents

I love the assumption that we all vote for a party I always vote for whoever I think will be best in the job.
Only the blinkered vote solely for a party which is why our councils get so many inept councillors.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

Hi Jan
this won't be the first time you have chosen to misunderstand me
Without doubt there will be people from no party supporting individuals
but most UKIP cllrs were voted in whilst on that ticket and farrage and all things UKIP
Most, if not all wouldn't be there otherwise.
Thankfully no one can rely on any vote anymore
that's healthy

Keith is correct in that most UKIP councillors around the country were voted in on the back of the Messiah Nigel Farage and now know they won't get re-elected with him not there.
Years ago our Sue stood down when she defected from the Lib Dems to the nasty party then stood again at the next election and won, a moral to the story.

Rather appropriate that UKIP backwards is Basque for a seedy, pear-shaped fruit beloved of a proto-fascist modernist novelist. After all, not many would give a fig for them any longer.

Thanks howard
I presume Labour doesn't have anyone to stand as they would be likely to win it in both seats

#724 et al thereafter, whilst I agree that someone voted in under one banner should go to the electorate if they have a "change of conscience", I am prepared to tolerate a councillor becoming an Independent. I don't deem that as crossing the floor, that to me means taking another parties whip - furthermore, UKIP never adopt a whip and so, it might be argued, have just ditched the banner but are not political different.

Jan
Further to your post to prove the 2 major parties can't just rely on votes
look at st rads where an independent did previously beat labour in it's safest seat
and of course here in priory where I beat the labour party against all odds
so the 2 major parties have to engage more.
Button
We differ I feel on what has happened.
the 2 remaining UKIP geezers(sorry ex UKIP) were voted in by people supporting the policies of the UKIP party.
They no longer have to abide by, support, or even can stand officially against a UKIP candidate
It wouldn't stop the 2 ex candidates who were voted in by UKIP support to stand and could even retain the seat, but at the moment no one knows where these people stand or even if they continue to support UKIP policies

Not enough to matter Keith, Facebook pages from many branches including our local one have closed down but nothing much seems to be happening with the new party. UKIP MEPs are still very vocal banging on about how the voters have been betrayed by the politicians over the EU but the public opinion seems to be accepting of the situation as it stands.

the new party only got the go-ahead from the electoral commission last week, so not surprising they haven't formed the infrastructure.
will be interesting to see the policies to see what sort of party it will be,, the leader was a Labour party candidate before she went to UKIP so we will have to see ?

The leader is more concerned with Islam than anything else so it might go down well in parts of Eastern Europe but not here. The far right in the UK, unlike in the rest of Europe, is on the way down with both EDL and Britain First losing much of their support.

"For Britain" have 423 members on their Facebook page and only paid up members can read anything on there, which says rather a lot.
