A range of memories can now be heard online as part of Dover Museum's oral history project to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the bombing of the Royal Marines School of Music, in remembrance of the 11 young men who were tragically killed.

Almost 30,000 devices that help to stop drinks being spiked have been distributed to pubs and clubs in Dover District in December and January, as part of work to continue to promote community safety and make sure the district continues to be a safe place.

Exciting plans for the future of Dover Visitor Information Centre, and proposals to locate the VIC in a new, larger entrance area in Dover Museum, are moving forward for the town following partnership working between Dover Town and Dover District Council.

In the first initiative of its kind, Port of Dover Police will bring the dangers of tombstoning into classrooms and local community organisations in a bid to deter local youngsters from joining the increasing number of people seriously injured, often fatally, each year.

George Hammond PLC has secured a new service from Seatrade with the backing of the Port of Dover. The port will welcome Seatrade's new Rayo service from Ecuador carrying bananas for high-street supermarkets such as Morrisons.

UK Border Agency officers are investigating after approximately 16 kilos of cocaine was seized at Dover's Eastern Docks on Thursday (10 February 2011). The drugs have an estimated street value of £600,000.

Dover District Community Safety Unit continues to work with Kent Probation to nominate projects for the Community Payback scheme - and nominations for projects that relate to community safety continue to be welcomed from local people or groups.

Drugs with a street value of more than £7 million have been seized at Dover after the UK Border Agency foiled three separate smuggling attempts at the port within the space of a week.
