- We should not joke about it and I am sorry for my part in it, it is very sad that they are going to take sand away from what is a war grave. - Brian Dixon likes this

- For those interested in progress of the Western Docks Development, contractors VSBW having recently produced a Youtube drone video.

Berth A (one of two cargo berths to be put into service to discharge into the RCT (Refrigerated Cargo Terminal) is in the Inner Harbour where approx. the Hoverpad site was located, and Berth C is in the outer harbour at approx. rightangles to Berth A and set against the infill area alongside the old Prince of Wales Pier.

The RCT is the large grey building alongside Berth A.

The 'Dolphin' at the end of Berth C is an isolated structure used to aid the berthing and mooring of vessels. It is connected to the land by a walkway.

The piling for the new marina pontoon berths can be seen in one of the shots.

- Sorry folks. This video was available on YouTube yesterday but appears to have been taken down today. What a pity.

- Not the same one Reg. The VSBW drone video was more up to date than the DWDR one. Pity. - Reginald Barrington likes this

- Some view yesterday of the Western Docks Development -
Wellington Navigation Channel, Lock & Marina Pier. The dog-legged pedestrian walkway above Wellington Dock that served as access from the Esplanade to Union Street has disappeared and new bridges across the navigation channel have been put in place. Not sure if there is public access to the pedestrian bridge yet.

- More on the DWDR site. -
Further to #277 "....new bridges across the navigation channel have been put in place. Not sure if there is public access to the pedestrian bridge yet"-
There is a pedestrian bridge across the new lock cut that provides continued access to Union Street.

- DWDR progress as at 8/9th October -
New Marina Pier. Can you spot the single piece of handrail that has been put in place?
-
The Wellington Navigation Channel & Lock
-
.... now has an altered temporary pedestrian walkway across the Cut
-
New Marina Control Building
-
Marina pontoon piling continues.....
-
The area between the Sea Sports Centre and the new Pier and Lock Cut is being developed with sets of concrete steps
-
This is the breakwater at the end of the Marina Curve. Not sure if the taller piling is intended to be supports for a pontoon berth but they are similar to the piling (with white caps) further down the curve that will eventually hold a floating pontoon for DHB work vessels.

- Great pictures. Thank you. Will we be able to compete with Folkestone's Harbour Arm if the right mixture of facilities, entertainment and retail is attracted in?

- "The Port of Dover is investigating a major fuel leak which polluted the marina and stopped boat movements for three days." -
I bet that was not included in the Dover Harbour's plans.
