18:5366045My son says yes too but he's not a member. Another yes Paul!
There's always a little truth behind every "Just kidding", a little emotion behind every "I don't care" and a little pain behind every "I'm ok".

18:5866049Paul...
Clauses could and should be built in, but I doubt if they will be.
If a foreign company buy it surely the profits will go to their shareholders or owner and out of the country.
I am not against the principle of the sale, I just can't see any benefit to this area at all.

19:0066051You can put as many clauses as you like but if the buyer says no then it is no and if the sell went ahead that would happen and then DHB would back down on the clauses and say "we did try but we are going to sell without the clauses.

19:4366078Paul, it's a known fact that the majority of people in Dover are against the privatisation plans!

19:4466081Why have petitions, if they are flung away once signed?

19:4666084I planned on attending the meeting but unfortunately now cannot. I hope there'll be a statement made available and look forward to reading.

Does my straw poll show this ? I think Dover Forum is a good cross section of people/backgrounds so can be a good represention of the views of the District.

20:3366104There was a Petition taken around Dover by a Dr Rogers who I know,it was taken by him and our MP at the time to no 10 he only done it for about four hours and got over 2000.to sigh it saying no to any sell off.

20:3866107....and how many people of those 2000 people were given sensible facts to think about and weigh up, and how many were given the tabloid scare story ?
.....how many people didn't sign or were give a choice to say YES, it could have been 20,000 that didn't sign it !!
Been nice knowing you :)

20:4166112Hence the uselessness of petitions. I try to avoid signing them for that very reason.

20:5766114A little like surveys which depend on the wording of questions and where the survey is taken.
Statistics in all forms mean very little as they can be twisted to suit the theory.

21:2666119Yes statistics can be skewed whatever way you want, but a petition on the street only had one outcome - you either say YES or no answer at all !!
Thus quick yes/no survey is a bit more realistic. I will only count the YES and NO by people who post on here (even though there are more yeses by proxy!) the maybees won't be counted nor the "my donkey says...."
So far
YES 6
NO 4
60% in favour so far.....
Been nice knowing you :)
