Sad isn't it, Karl? Sunday nights of a bygone age.

So, pubs can re-open next week. Which ones in Dover will be able to?

Wetherspoon's well ahead of the game with their App to order and get table service.

that chain of pubs need boycoting because of the owners attitude towards staff back in march,

Good Luck to all the Dover publicans trying to re open and earn a crust in these difficult times. We have some lovely pubs to be proud of in and around the town. The Eight Bells however is a nightmare for anyone who lives, works or just wants a quiet coffee in the town centre. The police are regularly called to the premises, the inhabitants of ' Fraggle Rock' at the front of the establishment tend to shout profanities to each other and anyone else who may want to ' run the gauntlet ' opposite our glorious historic church. They stagger across to the bookies unrinate beside the church and weave their way home sometimes collapsing on the public benches for hours until someone calls an ambulance or the police. Since the shops re opened it has been a pleasure to walk up from St James to the town hall maybe take in a coffee in the ' Green Room' and to see families able to take their children shopping in the town or the indoor / outdoor market without having to listen to abusive language and violent behaviour. So with due respect I hope that ther app is as successful as the ' world beating' one on the IOW. I also hope that in time the damned place disappears without trace.

In the last 20years or so plenty of landlords have come and gone all with good intentions but it just doesnt make a decent profit anymore, such a shame as it was a good little pub in its day.I think theres only The Dewdrop left in Tower Hamlets now.

Bottom line - use them or lose them.
