This site must be a big disappointment to those that signed up early, although the public that are in tune with Dover happenings will not be at all surprised.

Are you considering a Plan B yet Paul, or do you retain complete confidence in Bond City?

You assured the scrutiny committee that construction would be complete by Autumn 2016. Take responsibility and resign from DDC

Hard to disagree with Mr Heart, Cllr Watkins is an affable individual but Bond City (and others) have run rings round him and highly paid DDC officers for years now. I see no reply to my post #447. I was no great fan of David Cameron but he did the dignified thing after the humiliation of the referendum, for the sake of local people hands need to be held up. Have a read back through this thread and the MFI one, some of the comments from our local councillors are downright embarrassing.

This(DTIZ) has been going on for some considerable time but it will one day be completed and will be of immense value to our District. To call for the Leader of the Council to step down because of the slow progress and compare his position to that of Cameron is totally disproportionate to the situation.
Councillor (Paul)Watkins is probably the best Council Leader for many a year and totally approachable to everyone as demonstrated by his membership of the Forum, so bear with him.

To be fair he's the only leader for many a year, since 2003 actually. He's been on DDC for 33 years, so we've had plenty of time to judge him.

Sometimes it is better to have the devil you know.
It is always easy to complain from outside something David, myself and others are very good at.

The Leader is chosen by his peers who know his qualities and failings best of all and they continue to re elect him year after year, so I bow to their judgement. I have also worked for and against him and I stand by mine and Sue's support of him.

Unlike Jeremy Corbyn his peers can't stand the sight of him.

He has been leader for 10+ years? Quite a considerable time to make a difference. Most of his support seems to come from Dovorians which is surprising considering the scale of problems the town now faces. So much has been pinned to DTIZ as the saviour of Dover and yet Deal has stepped in and become the districts prime retail location. I would even argue that Sandwich attracts more footfall than Dover on some occasions.
DTIZ will be immense value to the District? Considering the retailers who have signed up for it can be found at every out of town location in Kent (with less congestion and free parking) I very much doubt it. The failing of De Bradelei Wharf should be a wake up call but sadly Dover seems to be content on following an ever decreasing circle.

Jan it is not just a right but a duty to hold politicians to account, they are entrusted with OUR money and must be accountable. During the early part of 2015 I shared a platform with people who were perfectly happy to tell lies, its all recorded so nothing scurrilous or libellous about it.

There are those who are judging Paul on the progress of the DTIZ, whereas I know of many other fields that Paul has intervened and supported during his tenure in office which have bought great benefit to the District.
If I need anything I always make Paul my first port of call and he has never once failed me or those who I represent.

As you feel so strongly about DDC and its Leader why have you not stood for election to the council? Standing for election as an MP is not the same as fighting for your beliefs in the various local chambers, hence my earlier comment.
