I do enjoy a debate with you David.I agree all Councillors should be held to account. What is stopping you asking a question at Full Council re DTIZ.
Glad you mentioned MCcarthy Glenn.IT was given the go ahead at planning however Labour administration overturned the decision.Sonethingm Ihad never heard of before or. since.
The Conservatives were for it.Mcclarens lots of discussions but My understanding is that the workforce did not want to relocate. The junction on :the A2 was altered in readiness.
I'm sure Paul will be able to answer this.
I do take the credit for getting Ron Dennis to a meeting at DDC.A very nice man.The old garden parties which Labour got rid of were very useful for communicating wth people.Believe it or not I'm a people person.Amazing what a lovely hat does!,!

I'll give Labour some credit, they got rid of garden parties, the epitome of self important nobodies eating and drinking at taxpayer's expense for absolutely no purpose. Well done the Labour party.

David it saved £6000.Different people in the community were invited each year.I attended many and I can honestly say I usually came home not having eaten a strawberry or had cup of tea.I spent the whole time introducing different people to each other. No names but there was always a group who never mixed.I suppose like me you think the Mayor Making bun fight should go .Same old faces each year.
My guests at the Garden party ranged from Bus drivers ,Our Post master an old war hero, people who serve the community or had in the past.
Great mistake cancelling a lovely event .Still Labour Councillors used to attend....o
When UKIP take control can I get my hats out of storage.

In these times of austerity, £6,000 is surely an enormous saving, enough to pay for a part_time teaching assistant for a child with special educational needs for example. Sorry to have to break this news, but queen victoria died a long time ago, and there is little room for archaic middle class conservative activities that might have been appropriate in the nineteenth century. Is it any wonder that dover makes little progress ?

Since as I understand it the garden parties have been abolished, the question of whether it is preferable to spend £6k on part-time SEN support or on functions at which one can wear hats and observe, but not eat, the food provided is moot.

I think the situation is becoming clearer, the purpose of DDC is to facilitate the development of the district, not introduce bus drivers to postmen over strawberries, if they want to do that they can go to a pub.

Poor old David .Dover will never aspire to Cheltham or Gloucester whilst people like you and the other posters have little understanding of manners and respect .KCC provide funding for SEN support.I do understand SEN
why shouldn't a bus driver or Post Master be my guest .I chose not to take a member of my family. if some of the values of the past were in place today we would not have the problems of today.

You are the most patronising and condescending person I have encountered in years, your Chairmanship of DDC is a litany of failure and egotism. So you had some strawberries with a postman, congratulations.

Do you have the faintest idea what the role of Chairman is?

Put simply if the Chairman doesn't break wind at council meetings or insult visiting dignitaries then the tenure in office is decreed a success.

Unsurprisingly you didn't highlight this:
"The Chairman chairs meetings of full Council."
The role of a Chairman is to manage and provide leadership to the group. I see no evidence of that and I have attended several meetings in DDC chambers.

Manage and provide leadership to the group means that the Chairman keeps order and make sure that all voices are equally heard. I haven't attended any meetings there but if the Chairman had shown any bias we would have heard about it from the opposition parties.
