Whoever is Council Fuhrer is dependant on the top executive officers - professionals not politicians.
I have seen copies of correspondence between members of the public and the head of inward investment that gives me no confidence in the latter.

I do wish people would actually read posts properly before jumping to the wrong conclusion.
I was actually supporting Paul and have made no comment about Ken as a councillor.

Hopefully there won't be much of a delay as presumably the replacement contractor would have bid originally and be fully aware of what has to be done.

Kier are one of the most respected building contractors in the UK. They would only walk away for a very good reason.

The article says that Bond City and Kier could not agree on a way forward which is all rather vague.

Farcical, Bond City are clearly incapable of fulfilling this project, DDC continue to support them.

Not so much as a "hiccup" as a haemorrhage
Rumours and criticism abound, contaminated land, people have not done their homework and so on.
Everyone and everything is silent. We have 45 District Councillors and 18 Town Councillor, plus all at Fort Whitfield.
Yet no announcement or information at all.
Not good enough is it?

With aigh and a shake of the head, we endure Dover continuing to disappoint.

Maybe we shouldn't jump to conclusions just yet? We don't know who was at fault in the dispute between Kier and Bond City and the suggestion is that a contractor is ready to over from Kier.

Maybe if we the people of Dover were officially kept informed by those we elected we would not have to jump to conclusions.
Unfortunately we are always the last to be told anything, it is as if we are all little children. Are we not adult enough to follow what is happening? There seems to be a code of silence on anything even remotely important, be it from the Government level right down to the smallest local council.

It is the very vagueness of the announcement that gives rise to speculation.
Come on, what exactly is going on?

It is frustrating but I can't see there being a long wait for a new contractor to be announced, meanwhile the utility companies are doing their bit with pipes, tubes, cable and all that stuff.

When I moved here in 2002 I was assured that it would be completed by 2005, just dug up this old thread that explains why I don't get too worked up over delays of a year or two.

Howard, you moved here about the same time Paul Watkins became leader of DDC then.

Caught me out Jack it was me that appointed Paul as council leader, you wouldn't believe the flak I took from those awful Labour supporters.

2003 actually and Leader also early nineties, until Labour with liberals and one independent took over.IN 1995 Labour gained enough seats to take control on their own.Liberals and independent no longer required. So began the years of Labour control,!, Conservatives took over again in 2003.It took a long time to get the finances back on track.
So the current Leader has achieved a lot .,whatever you might think..

Thank you for that Mr Little.A bit rich coming from someone who has never served as a Councillot I was giving the political history of the last twenty years. So easy to sit and critise
The public have the opportunity to vote every four years so if your not happy that's when changes take place.
Currently there are three vacancies on the Town Council the results will prove interesting.
A leader has a very hard task because every Councillor wants the best for the people they represent.I well recall when Mcclarens proposed moving to Lydden ,the Councillor for that ward had to respect the views of the local residents.
I do however think a statement re DTIZ from DDC should be forth coming as until the truth be known there will be speculation.
I look at there Facebook page but the important issuie is not being covered.

Oh I see, unless you've served as a councillor you are unable to criticise, got it.
Actually I like the use of "serve", they need reminding that is what they are there to do, serve the public, not the other way round.
The McLaren debacle, as with McArthur Glen and countless other failures shows just how well we are served.
