You;
southeast enquiries (southeast.enquiries@stagecoachbus.com)
Dear Howard
Thanks for getting in touch. We're excited about the various schemes for regeneration and development in Dover. St. James retail park is one such scheme and we're also looking at the impact of the longer-term regeneration of the Western Docks. We work closely with stakeholders in the town through the Quality Bus Partnership and although we don't have any specific changes planned at this stage - we will be ready to make adjustments to bus services as demand dictates.
With best wishes

They are obviously so exited about all the schemes that would wish to attract shoppers and visitors to their doors that they have done little to nothing about getting them there. Hurrah!

No idea what's going on but just saw a whole pile of these being printed up at the DDC offices at Fort Whitfield.

No bus service will mean complaints on social media, wonder if that will satisfy the demand they so obviously they need.
No bus service means many of those without cars will not bother after the initial nosy visit, I expect that will include me.

Apparently DTIZ is going to have a 'soft' opening i.e. various outlets open up when they are ready and people spend money on stuff, as well as a 'hard' opening later when the usual suspects have their pictures taken cutting the inevitable ribbon followed by warm white wine and canapes in the TravelLodge cafe.

Good news on the cinema especially for those who signed up for employment there at the recent jobs fair. My guess is that an eatery or two will be racing to open in time to feed the cinema goers.

One of the interesting things will be to see how the Lord Nelson and the Castle Inn react to DTIZ. Were they to 'up their game' they are the best positioned pubs to make the most of footfall immediately on their doorstep.

Funny you should say that Bob I was thinking exactly the same but more about the Lord Nelson which at present is so close to a high fence you have to walk sideways to get past the pub or even into it. When the current people took it over I thought they must be looking into the future and have plans to capitalise on the St James development.

Dover Cineworld ticket = £13.10
Westwood VUE = £5.00 + free parking
You do the math.

Is that by any chance the same Westwood Vue which is next to 53 stores and restaurants including a mega M&S and which has an enormous Sainsburys when approaching from Dover with some of the cheapest petrol in the county? (£115.9 when I called by half an hour ago)

I just looked at the website, stuck in a random film for next Tuesday afternoon and they wanted to trouser £. 14. 97.

Which are they showing?
(I know I usually pay about £17 for things like Opera from the Met, but since I'm not surrounded by track suited oiks stuffing their fat faces with pop-corn while texting their mates it seems a cheap price to pay)

Mmm Westwood Vue - that will be a 38 mile round trip in a car from Dover so lets add 4.5 litres of petrol at 115.9p per litre (£5.21) plus AA recommended costs per mile of 18p (total = 6.84) - so your £5 cinema ticket isn't looking so cheap now...

Dont drive but 38 miles to the gallon on urban driving is I believe a reasonable assumption for most of the vehicles I see on the roads in East Kent - 1 imperial gallon last time I looked was 4.5 litres
