Interesting to read about those who initially were going to come here but pulled out for various reasons. I was most sorry about Ben and Jerry's as I always enjoyed watching the antics where that nice little mouse got one over that awful cat.

Hammerson, the blue-chip shopping mall specialist, reported a £267 million loss and a plan to sell off a half-billion worth of assets, while declaring ‘we do not expect to commit to any major projects until markets stabilise’; its competitor Intu, owner of Lakeside and the Trafford Centre, lost £1.2 billion last year after a huge write-down of its portfolio.

At least DDC's investment (sic) in commercial property (land agents Citycourt again!) seems secure!

I was in the Whitfield B&Q site last Thursday (For those who haven't been it's just down the road from the empty Home Base store. The one with the anti-pikey blocks around the car park) . Huge reductions on tumble-weed .............

There will still be talk of a rapid transit bus system in another 11 years, I will now mull over the connection between Morrison's sandwiches and a better bus service.

Howard you have to be quick.Money spent on way out schemes.Money should be invested in a better bus service.Whilst we have the need for food banks and soup kitchens Money should be used to solve the problems.

Yup. Soup kitchens are excellent. Not only do their clients flock to any town with them driving down footfall but the clients also provide a ready market to encourage drug dealers.
Sue. Labour are offering a 'not for profit' bus service in their election material locally. Unfortunately what 'not for profit' means is 'run at an enormous loss' until Labour inevitably loses power and the Conservatives are left with a huge hole in the finances and in trying to put finances back in order are accused of 'wicked Tory cuts'.

61 bus service is rumored to be no more than a loop service if plans go ahead,so residents can not get to Tesco's, icelands or any where north of the town hall.
