One of them will be KFC. They have already said they are moving from Market Square.

Excellent news.
St James is fast becoming THE Kentish must-visit gastronomic delight. I expect full page spreads in the quality press any day.

It's understandable. The location and offering is set-up for people en-route to the port. The problem is the businesses who are relocating there like KFC, M&S etc were key to keeping the old high street going. I fear we will lose the high street completely and just be left with this glorified service station which does nothing to reinvent Dover as a destination.

I lived in Plymouth for years and exactly same happened there. They built a new indoor shopping centre at the top of the city centre. The bottom end of the city suffered due to lack of footfall.

The pdf is dated September 2017, so there must be a lot to negotiate.

Well, well! Sittingbourne redevelopment not going so well now?
https://www.kentonline.co.uk/sittingbourne/news/restaurant-firms-sign-up-for-town-s-revamp-202426/
As a councillor comments in the article referencing the Elwick Place project in Ashford. “The project includes a Travelodge Hotel, a six-screen cinema and eight restaurants. It opened in December with capital investment from council taxpayers and initial amnesties on rent.
"You may well recognise this
off-the-shelf uninspiring and commercially out-of-date model of regeneration. It is in trouble and has been accurately described by an Ashford Labour councillor as ‘ghost town’ "
There's a lot of it about!

That's my Council Tax spoken for for the foreseeable future then; no playground facilities from me!

Over 30% of units still not let (and those let seeking rent reduction from landlord as I speak!)
a) I'm glad my pension is not with L&G.
b) Councillors who were responsible for allowing this to go ahead over the past two decades without pulling the plug should hang their heads in shame as they are not fit for public office due to general stupidity.
c) Officers responsible for this farce should resign and find something more suitable to their skill set e.g. supermarket checkout.
I repeat -
£12,945,358 of PUBLIC money "We are living in very strange times, and they are likely to get a lot stranger before we bottom out"

I still have not been down there, for me it is not worth the effort even though I still have an M&S voucher I have yet to spend. Maybe if one of those nine empty units end up with a shop that sells something I desperately need I will make the trip.
