i noticed that colin, makes you wonder how many other people enthusiastically went to the centre trying to boost a new enterprise and were disappointed.
the strange thing is next weekend is easter, providing that it is not raining too heavily, the sea front gets very busy
and with no churchill or and end of pier cafe it is like a licence to print money.

jUST ON THE sea sports centre, iv been there a few times now, and packed out, many commented that although they do coffee, if they did a few cakes they would do a good sale.

Not been in yet and after recent reviews don't intend to.
I'll leave it to the rich and famous.

We have just got back from the centre, staff have been told to work on,as they are still talking to the D.H.B. There is a sigh up saying last day,but that might not be the case.I am going back first in the morning to get more news ,as I have booked up for a event in a few weeks time.

Oh, wow, thanks Howard, I missed that.
The trouble is that no matter how good a place it is, or how good the food is (and it was good), if they have rubbish staff, or that staff has had no training, then the public will not be happy parting with their hard-earned cash.
Jasin had joined the Chamber of Commerce, who look after their members (?); DBS looked after its members - which I did, very conscientiously. Businesses need someone who will help promote them, work with them when/if difficulties occur.
I guess one of the main differences was that the Chamber would be re-active and I was pro-active, but to be honest I don't know anyone at the Chamber who would have been willing or able to offer this very important service.
The set-up needs looking at again.
Hope Vista Leisure do it properly.

I understand that Vista Leisure have been asked to review the management structures, catering arrangements etc.

What, the same Vista Leisure that makes such a good job of the Leisure Centre's management and catering arrangements?

Yes it is, but they were involved in the selection of Jasin's in the first place

I think the Leisure Centre Management work very well with what they have - an ageing Leisure Centre, that is in need of either substantial refurbishment, or a complete new re-build.
The whole complex is run as efficienctly as it could be.

You obviously haven't eaten their disgusting, expensive food then Roger! I'm appalled to think that the very good, albeit pricey, food in Jasin's is to be substituted by equally pricey but lesser quality food offered up by Vista Leisure.

I have had two meals there now and both were excellent. There are some staffing problems I noticed on my first visit but yesterday it was table service and very rapid. On both occasions the food was excellent. I have never before had such light batter on fish as I had there. I also find that the portions are far too big for me, but my husband did not have a problem.
I agree that the knives and forks placed on a paper napkin at the corners of the tables is very unattractive. They would be better upright in some sort of container in the middle of the table. Although the tables and chairs do not look very enticing they are comfortable. It is a appealing space, with a wonderful view, not least that of the muscled rowers and sailors.......

It is all teething problems that I am sure will be sorted.... it may take a while at the moment, but all the better to be able to sit there longer and enjoy the views

My understanding Andy, is not that Vista are taking over the food concession, just that they have been asked to review the management structures for the whole centre, service delivery for food etc. as they were the ones who were responsible for the original set up and appointment of Jasin's.
