In a nice location too with waterside seating which is always an attraction when the weather is good.

And some of them are still there Paul yes I was about then and Dover was a great place then with all the shops full up, a pub of each day of the year and shoping in the lanes was great I could go down there for a haircut for just six pence (2 new pence) a pint of beer was 9pence (4 new pence) a bag of sweets for just one old penny, that is less then one new pence. I got 2&6 for a paper round which now would be 12new pence. The list goes on and on. And Britain was great with a very big R/Navy and Army, and the R.A.F.

#102 Interesting picture there Paul, which Howard thought was Victorian, I thought was Edwardian and you say it`s 1950`s. As you have the main picture, you`ll see it all better, but with me, it was just all that typical dark clothing that made me think otherwise.
Tell them that I came, and no one answered.

Here's a proper Victorian view - around the 1880s

Sid, can't be Barry's. His are dry cleaned - in a day! Where? I'd like to know.

That would be the Chinese laundry in Mayfair, they are delivered on a daily basis by rickshaw I believe, I'll have to ask my man, Howard?

I think Tony has a point; Dover is just about the only place on the planet I know of where it takes 3 days to have a suit dry cleaned. Opposite the hotel in Cairo we stayed at a couple of years ago one customer-oriented business advertised that the jacket you had worn out in the museums that day would be back in your hotel room in time for dinner. The cost of this phemonal service? US$3.50. Two years on, and I'm still impressed!
True friends stab you in the front.

I know it can be done. I'm always told to call and collect in five days at Elms Vale Cleaners in Pencester Road.
