It is so easy to do, even I can managed to copy and paste, the following was on her FB page.....
'Parklets'
After I saw them in place I ask for a meeting with the KCC department concerned to discuss them. The money was supplied by the Active Travel Fund, a government initiative.
The are two sets in place and another one going in today near Iceland, I have asked that the remaining two sets are held back for now
After the meeting I was sent the answer below to help clarify. Any comments or views regarding this should be sent to Transport Innovations at KCC or on twitter @KentSchoolRun or online at
www.kent.gov.uk
""They parklets are currently unfinished.
We are looking forward to beginning engagement with local groups/artists/schools in the coming weeks as lockdown gets easier and hope that we will be able to invite design ideas and begin collating these so that the final designs can be chosen by Dover’s community, and implemented

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

They just need graffiti now to brighten them up.

That’s already in the pipeline as they’re described as not yet finished but will be done so in conjunction with local artists!

As so often in nominally democratic systems, the horse follows the cart into a ditch.

No doubt many would. But, as far as I can tell, the fund doesn't allow for it. The schemes are designed to 'lock in' certain 'green' behaviours that our wise leaders claim to have observed since they locked us up and closed us down: reduced car use, more cycling, more walking. The prevention of the spectacle of high numbers of folk hopping about town with crossed legs and full bladders and no means of quick relief isn't a cause the ideologues will carry a flag for.

From Pauline's FB post........"The money was supplied by the Active Travel Fund, a government initiative."
I would like to know what these parklet seats and planter monstrosities have to do with the above fund unless they are planted with Triffids plants and seats do not usually raise up and travel.

They are to force you to behave in a manner that's acceptable to the authorities.
A recent scheme in Westgate-on-Sea included 'changes to the parking bays, to encourage walking and cycling... using parklets, planters and bolted down bollards (delineators) to reallocate road space.' This was done 'to promote social distancing and increase walking and cycling opportunities.'
The scheme was eventually upended after intervention from 'local KCC members, the town council and the local MP.' But the local authorities will continue to impose them as they 'give us the opportunity to lock in some of positive travel patterns we have seen during the pandemic' [KCC's grammatical error, not mine].

Does Pauline's comment not count, I thought she was a councillor.

The chippy up from the Town Hall looks like its been turned into residential property, whilst next door the Marmaris has presumably changed hands and is now the Marina BBQ Meze Bar.
