Fortunately Dovorians have no word which is the equivalent of 'schadenfreude'.

Maybe because the Dover branch of the company is apparently successful, that is according to the owner. BTW never been there so I have no reason to doubt him.
There can only be one reason this particular Deal branch has failed while their rivals are succeeding, that one is not providing what the potential customers want, it is not rocket science.

I see that Whites of kent the curtain and fabric shop opposite the town hall has a closing down sale,a shame as it must be one of the oldest shops in town,i can remember it when I was a kid.It must have been trading for at least 40+years.Also the recently opened Jerk Caribbean restaurant in London rd looks like its shut down, shop now full of carboard boxes and dismantled shop fittings,i,m quite surprised if it has as it apparently had good reviews.

Dover has an uncanny knack of investing in dead ducks. St James opened just as shopping malls became unfashionable, the DWDR just as we enter recession and as for the cruise terminal, even if people ever decide to go on cruises again its doubtful the operators will survive the end of this year.

And the last nail in the coffin for:
- the traditional high street
- pubs (although pub goers are the most likely to ignore restrictions)
Hopefully this will trigger a resurgence of small local community shops to the detriment of big supermarket chains.

Doubtful given it is owned as a "long only" asset by a pension fund provider
