Why can it only continue if we remain in the CU. Surely it's down to us to decide how many vehicles we physically inspect and with pre-clearance of goods why can't JIT continue?

Guys, we're getting confused about the Customs Union again. Assuming it would work the same as the EU-Turkey one, then import and export declarations would apply in both the EU and UK. Pre-clearance is theoretically possible (though personally I think it's tricky) BUT it requires declarants who, as we've said before, don't currently exist.
I can see the attraction for port owners TDC with the Manston insanity on their doorstep, but landside capital investment aside, it's the profitability for potential carriers that's the real rub.

The PM knows exactly what she is doing here by giving an outline of the agreed deal to our ministers this evening, By 2. 30 pm on the morrow they will have to wade through 500 pages of densely packed legal jargon which is totally impossible leaving the likes of Redwood, Davies, Boris and the Mogg biting the carpet with frustration.

We can safely expect a few ministerial resignations later but the PM will take the agreement to the summit later in the month and it will all be signed off then. Next month it will go before the commons who will doubtless reject it and we will back to square one. There is not enough time to oust the PM and get someone in to things differently so it is no wonder that Premier Foods are stockpiling raw materials.

I am beginning to wonder what the point of the cabinet meeting is, should the ministers go along with the PM it still has to go to the Commons with 13 Scottish Tories and 10 DUP clearly stating that they will vote the bill down.

As it seems she has got the big children to agree, there is at last a chance that the rest of the argumentative children might not rock the rather dodgy boat.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

Not a chance Jan MPs have their careers, sorry I meant their principles to consider and I am amazed at the cabinet response. I would be happy if it did get passed because of the disasterous consequencies otherwise but at the end of the day the customs union benefits us and the other 27 member states equally but only the UK pays 40 billion quids for the pleasure.

And pages 476 onwards, amongst others, provide food for thought at first sight.
A lot of arguing still to come.

The PM and Chancellor have urged business to support the deal which is not asking much as they get all the benefits whilst the £40 billion is paid mainly by the rest of us. Rest assured that our representatives in the Commons will take a more pragmatic approach.
Time to stock up on those wonky vegetables and freeze them for next summer.

Dominic Raab and Esther McVey have now resigned, could be a vote of no confidence coming up.

Oh goody, that'll be productive then!

Surely this was Tory Brexiteers playing a long game: put a sure-to-fail Remainer in charge of the balloon, hole the bag with a series of arrows until it plummets into a field of wheat, patch it up, fill with hot air, and take off with an ERG-qualified pilot.
