Keith if you choose to live abroad you should expect to be treated and behave like those whose country you have chosen to be part of. This applies equally to those who take up permanent residence to work in the UK also.
I understand that child benefits are currently being paid to EU workers for their children that don't even live in the UK and why do we pay heating allowance to pensioners living in places like Spain.
Brexit may be a minefield but it provides an opportunity to sort out many abmnormalities that currently exist in many areas.

I thought they had sorted out the heating allowance for retired UK citizens living in warmer EU countries.

The Gibraltar spat made me smile as I suddenly remembered this sketch, which will pretty much sum up how negotiations will go if news organizations continue to get quotes from generations out of date people such as Michael Howard.....

It looks like the Isle Of Wight has done a runner too Howard. Never mind:

""They are petrified that in two years time we will pull out and they will lose the second highest donor to the Budget."
That is the true reason the Eu want us to stay, I can think of no other apart from the fear that the UK might be starting the exodus ball rolling.

Spot on Jan, got it in one!
The amazing thing really is how many dullards there are still about that just can't, or don't want to, see the blindingly obvious!
Since and due to Brexit I've personally lost a lot of money, but if the vote was held again tomorrow I would still vote "out". Sometimes in this life some things are more important than money and not being subject to what virtually amounts to "foreign rule" is one of them!

Haven't a clue Brian, but would guess a fair number and even those with a "foreign" link to the past most likely care a damn sight more about our country than the foreign bureaucrats in Brussels that we pay vast sums of money to in order that they can dictate to us.

Following on from John's post, if we reached a stage where everybody stayed in the country they were in I would be quite happy overall. No doubt there is some we could do without but from what I have read and from personal experience the Poles, who are the biggest EU migrants, have made a great effort to blend in, work hard and integrate. Rather have them than born and bred who have moved abroad for an easier life.

Doesn't look very promising with Donald Tusk saying that talks about trade deals can only start after we have left the EU.

Fair enough, then we will arrange, set up and start trade deals with non EU countries now and not wait until we have formally left ( which was daft anyway! ). They can't have it both ways and what can they do about it? The sulky child attitude of the EU once again shows us what they really think of us. We have upset their future plans big time and in return and at every given opportunity they will attempt to make things difficult for us. Not totally unexpected of course!

The EU top brass plus Merkel seem to be under the impression that they hold the best cards completely forgetting we are a nett importer and businesses all over Europe are reliant on us buying from them. Negotiations cannot start until "divorce" terms are agreed upon. We would be doing the correct thing legally and morally by making clear that we will not be paying anything to these leeches but somehow I just don't have confidence in our PM to do this.
