I can see no logical reason for any legitimate immigrant from any country EU or not to think they will be forced to leave if they are employed, have been settled here for several years and not broken our laws.

LMAO! Dover's finest with in depth analysis on the National News

If ever there were an argument for doing away with the idea of 'care in the community' and bringing back more sheltered housing units this is it. How do these people manage to bumble through life without 24/7 support?

A successful negotiation leaves both sides believing the have 'won'.
We get 'hard fought for concessions' from them, they get 'punitive payments' from us, as both sides full well know. Meanwhile we all have our two penny worth about something most of us don't really understand and many newspapers are sold.
I guarantee that five years from now most of us won't remember what all the fuss was about.

Kb is right about are lily livered politicos handing over shed loads of money to the EU but why should they? There is nothing in Article 50 to suggest this plus our great legal minds say we are not down to pay any alimony.
We are in the driving seat regarding trade as a nett importer plus if the EU turned nasty and insisted on import duties for our products then we would do the same. Result would be a massive downturn in the German car industry with untold numbers having to sign on for the dole. Much the same applies to French wine and food exports to us.

Well, at least the uncertainty in post 407 regarding Uk border controls on EU produce can be cleared-up; all we need is for a DDC councillor to confirm that Port Health won't be checking ro-ro and that, so far as they are aware, neither will APHA, PHSI et al.

The EU playing with a hard ball and not taking kindly to our PM bringing up joint security early on, Nrs Merkel refuses to discuss anything before our "final payment" is resolved - last I heard she was not even an MEP.

I am sick and tired of hearing about Brexit and how difficult they can make it for the UK. Why do we never hear how us leaving the EU will affect Europe, if there will be little affect why do they seem to need us?

Fair point. OK, it's going to be fun and games at French ro-ro ports too and Eire is doubtless scratching its head about how to trade with the other Member States across the UK.

Regardless of anyone's personal opinion as to whether we should remain or end our membership of the EU, shouldn't we all stop trying to score points off each other and make positive efforts to make it work?
Or perhaps we should forgo having referendums on any important event and let the government make their own mind up and then we could blame
them?
There seems to be a 'them and us' mentality streak running through any mention of Brexit with a distinct taking of sides between young and old in the UK which is rather a negative slant on an important decision.
The UK has overcome bigger problems in the past by working together and it can be achieved again without all the infighting going on which achieves nothing.
Perhaps the one word '
working' is the key to all this.......get back the working ethos, and
earn what we think we should have rather than continue to expect someone else to provide an easy passage through life.
On a more positive note I have noticed that prominently marked packaging of British grown products are becoming more evident in our supermarkets. I sincerely hope that this is the renaissance of farming after many decades of cutting hedges at the right time and leaving fields fallow just to reap EU subsidies whilst the rest of Europe sell these products to us.
Of course we also have fishermen who I'm sure would like the opportunity to go to sea to fish rather than watch other European fleets plunder our stocks.
AND..........?

I rather like this personal view because since the Referendum nobody accepts that others voted differently to themselves and the vogue is to make snide comments rather than debate. The world seems to have changed very quickly with people like Farage, Corbyn and Trump that would previously have been in the background thrown into the limelight with each one thinking that a quick populist tweet to their disciples as a replacement for long term thinking and planning.

Oh no, not blessed Duty Free and Customs controls again. The real issue is the return of limited Travellers Allowances - read Public Notice no.1. I'm a smoker and this suggested change is not good.
