I hope he's not holding his breath...........although on second thoughts!

Thanks for answering my Q's! I'm really happy to find a reasonable forum for discussion on Brexit and it's effects.
I myself was unable to vote on the ref, but yes I was well sceptical of the EU before hand, however, I did narrowly back remain. I felt horrible knowing what the EU/DE did with Greece, and found the mostly male-dominated Brussels establishment somewhat distasteful and not very entwined with many European societies. Yes, the EU can be reformed, but I think if things continue as they are, I fear the alliance could fall apart eventually, as pro-EU groups appear hesitant to confront many serious issues, fearing it could open up a can of worms.
Regarding the Irish border its good to also point out that the ROI is also not part of the Schengen Agreement, I'm not really sure if that would have any effect regarding the future of an Irish open border?
Again, I'm not really for Brexit from a right-wing view, but merely
And yes, this is from a younger generations point of view.
Regards

Apparently, according to the EU 'Today we commemorate the Europe-Wide Day of Remembrance for the victims of all
totalitarian and authoritarian regimes'.
You really couldn't make it up!

Sophia: people issues, as opposed to goods, are not really my forte, but here's a link to HMG's position paper on Ireland - rather well written I thought (but then, it probably came from Whitehall rather than Westminster!):

One of the things the PM has got wrong over immigration is the issue with students from overseas who we need to keep many universities going. They are not a burden on public services and the vast majority leave when their visas expire.

Absolute rubbish. What has she got 'wrong'? The quicker parliament goes back and we get some real news the better. Problems with ONS stats was flagged up in
Population Briefing International student migration - What do the statistics tell us? - January 2016 - ONS paper. It's downloadable as a pdf. I have rarely hear such rubbish talked about immigration stats by the totally uninformed - well, not since the last time anyway.

How does one answer a daft Question? Home Secretary for 6 years. each year promising to get nett immigration down to a certain number and failed in each of the 6 years. So the party punishes by making her Prime Minister.

If you fancy a 'rolling eyes/shaking head' session, try reading Charlie's article in The Sun on free trade deals - dearie me and I thought he was supposed to be a tax expert!

Howard,
The question was what has she got 'wrong' on the issue of overseas students.

I believe Charlie's expertise is on tax avoidance rather than taxation per se. I tried explaining to him that we had all been here before with the Corn Laws but his eyes glazed over at that point.

Pity, then, that his eyesight still allowed him to write such a confused article!

Not Charlie. Unfortunately all the office have buggered off on holiday leaving Phil and Jamie in charge. Every so often they get a text from Charlie (he refuses to 'phone because of something called roaming charges) asking for '500 words for the Sun on being Brexit ready from day one' leaving the boys to cut and paste bits from the data base of ideas Central Office are keeping on the Dark Web so Labour can't hack into it.
Since no-ones keeping an eye on them they've taken to smoking exotic cheroots in the back garden and then cutting out random printed phrases and throwing them in the air to put them in order, ever since Phil read that book on the I Ching, hence the disjointed article in the Sun.
The boys are also having a competition to see what the maddest idea is that they can write which Charlie will 'sign off' for publication.
So far the link road to the Eastry by-pass from Deal to alleviate the pressure on the Dover/Deal road seems to be winning! Hopefully it will be Brexit ready by day one?

From Wiki:- RT has been frequently described as a propaganda outlet for the Russian government and its foreign policy.RT has also been accused of spreading disinformation by news reporters, including some former RT reporters, The United Kingdom media regulator, Ofcom, has repeatedly found RT to have breached rules on impartiality, and of broadcasting "materially misleading" content.

Another day - another Labour policy shift. The idea that these people could be 'in charge' of Brexit negotiations is ludicrous!

Wel it took them a while to get there, but finally they have. It was madness to have an almost identical approach to Tories as they would not have been in any position to take the political high ground if Brexit goes belly up.

Reminiscent of Mr Cameron's deal then, or perhaps Norway+, and having in common with the May administration a transitional period to which the EU has to agree. Not 100% clear which customs union is being referred to (another negotiating point) and so no guarantee of keeping the mess away from Dover.
If I didn't know it was almost Autumn, I'd be imagining I could hear cuckoos.

Worry ye not everything will be cheaper once we leave the EU, must be true as it in the "Sun" and Charlie endorses it.
