Interesting fact: 'statistically MPs are more likely to have a criminal conviction than the average member of the public.'
Another interesting fact: 'Delinquents and criminals average IQ scores 8 to 10 points lower than noncriminals, which is about one-half a standard deviation. IQ and criminal behavior are negatively correlated at about r = -.20 (Hirschi and Hindelang; Wilson and Herrnstein)'.
Are the two facts in any way related?

Exactly but it all depends on a person's agenda as to whether they highlight them, I think we can all guess far to many in Westminster downwards have things, some serious some not, they would rather keep away from the public eye.

You cannot justify/ excuse the actions of Charlie Elphicke by trying to deflect attention to others who carry out similar acts. He was wrong and rightly punished, let’s hope many others are similarly caught and legally tried. It’s insulting and deeply damaging to women to try to defend him - you’re basically saying he was just unlucky to have been reported and found guilty when others haven’t. So wrong.

As far as the powers-that-be are concerned, Charlie’s main crime was to crusade against the big companies which avoid paying their fair share of tax, who are (by sheer coincidence-ha!) the main financial donors to the Tory party. There are many other alleged gropers and kiddie-fiddlers in Parliament who have escaped prosecution because they have not attempted to undermine the Party.

No, it gives an explanation why Charlie ended up in court while others have not, remaining free possibly because either they follow the party line or have had the luck not to upset the wrong person.

You’ll be passing the hat around for him next! Forgive me if I don’t join you in making a contribution. Because others don’t get caught doesn’t make his offence any less serious. I can’t believe people are seeking to defend him.
