Harvey Weinstein is a sex predator, abused 80 women including rape. Reynhard Sinaga: 'Evil sexual predator' jailed for life for 136 rapes. I cannot put CE in the same league.

Alfred Wainright walked all the fells in the Lakes. I've walked a few fells in the Lakes. AW walked more fells than I have (so far); but we're both fellwalkers

Snap! The question then I suspect was:-
Open minded in Suffolk perhaps?

That doesn't really put you in the same league as Wainwright does it?
As analogies go that one is false or were you using metonymy?

Bob Oh you are so funny .Yes I was a teenager in the fifties lots of Americans in East Anglia .Some of the posters on here have never lived in that era .Those were the days my friend .When I’m created a Dame I shall be called Sylvia again .
Some of my fellow Councillors used to say when I was chairing meetings I only had to give one look .

Interestingly, I think this subject would naturally have gone away pretty quickly, had it not been for Natalie's press splash about supporting Charlie's appeal - having previously announced she was severing ties. I think she should focus on her own identity now.

Sorry if my analogy confused you, RB. It was to address the 'not a sexual predator' argument. The poster previously asserted that the offences were 'not much more than a bit of slap and tickle', and subsequently ventured the Harvey Weinstein example, which I took to be: it is the quantity of offences which determines the classification rather than the pattern of behaviour. The analogy was my refutation of that argument.

If the HGS teaching back in the 50’s was assessed on a sliding scale it would probably be more middle brow than high brow. I am Impressed to find that some posters have found a method of communicating on a private messaging level, bypassing us thickos!!
Used colloquially as a noun or adjective, "highbrow" is synonymous with intellectual; as an adjective, it also means elite, and generally carries a connotation of high culture. The word draws its metonymy from the pseudoscience of phrenology, and was originally simply a physical descriptor.

I took it to be the quality of the offence, regardless Wainwright should not be allowed in an analogy of the predations, predilections or philandering of the aforementioned three.
Just pleased it wasn't a confession!

Yes, perhaps best to have left AW to his well-earned pipe and slippers.

I have been led to understand that the basis for the appeal is the view that the Judges summing up amounted to a misdirection of the jury thus prejudicing his case

I'm sure he will try with top lawyers (wouldn't it be nice if we all had this )
But it appears during the case he didn't help himself .
I have to say though the legal system is inn need of review ,
So any outcome would no longer suprise me
