You'll note the government hasn't called on Sir Kier to resign - because they know that if he did, that logic would immediately apply to Johnson.

I hope Starmer hasnt got over confident
I also hope Neil and Brian
That if he does get a fixed pen notice that you call for him to resign

Yes, I would - as it would damage the party's ability to hold the PM to account.

A working constituency lunch is different to a bring your own wine party or happy birthday gathering.

Sir Kier has completely outflanked the right wing press here - they are furious. What else did they expect him to do? They've massively overplayed their hand here and it's backfired.

If something is plastered over the Daily Mail's front page for 6 days in a row, then surely it should raise the suspicion of anyone with a smidgeon of objectivity...?

He's done exactly what they expected/hoped he would do, now he's committed. Having spent a week refusing to answer the question he's finally been told how to respond and the executive are probably now hoping he gets fined as are the right wing press.

Disagree with that, Reg. Look at the Mail and Sun, absolutely furious. I also read that Number 10 issued a strong reminder to Ministers yesterday NOT to call for Starmer to resign - as the logic would also have to reply to Johnson.

Durham police will now be under a lot of pressure even if they do have the evidence to take out a major politician .
Whilst I'm sure the left in the party hope he gets fined
I do wonder where local people were warned or fined for walking in parks or sitting on benches if our Keith is found to be innocent how those locals will feel ?

Yet another negative post/comment from our Keith as opposed to the more well known one.
I have now got to the point of finding the whole situation simply a strategy to divert us all from what is more important, like those genuinely unable to afford even life's basics even though in full time employment.

What a turn off Keiths post are becoming. You would not believe he was Labour through and through as was his lovely Mother and his late brother Leader of the Labour group at DDC.Like Jan I agree all this hype about both the Labour Leader and Conservative is just a smoke screen .There are more important issues which we should worry about.By the end of the year many people will be finding it hard to manage. Some have never had to make do and mend and will struggle .Constant worry over lack of money has a knock on effect .We hear so much about people unable to cope ..With the people in Ukraine living in a war Zone our Leaders should not having senseless tick for tac disagreements.

Have the posters on this site who engage in ‘tit for tat’ comments not heard of WhatsApp? Frankly that’s where these kind of comments belong. They aren’t either informative to other participants or even interesting! Please gentlemen keep the playground banter and arguments between yourselves.

I see where you've gone wrong Neil; The Mail and the Sun! After his vociferous demands for Johnson to resign (both before and after recieving a fine) what options where left to him?

What I find a little amusing is many have a view far worse than what I post and yet posters go for Me and even now bring In my family who are sadly no longer with us .
So it's ok for many posters to have a view on the govt or the opposition , but I shouldn't ?
At least i wear my heart on my sleeve , i don't pretend what I'm not .
I go back to the days where the politics page was moved which I still don't share that decision , but those that were going to avoid the page spend there time attacking me
It is no wonder people turn off posting on here .
I may not agree with Neil or Brian in the views they have in this instance on labour , but I welcome the views they give even if I may disagree with them.

It's a fascinating aside that the majority of folk I find myself disagreeing with on all matters Labour are members, whereas I am simply a keen supporter. I've long held the view that Labour should worry more about what voters want rather than the membership - but I get that's easy for me to say.
For example, Keith and I would probably both agree that Andy Burnham would be a super leader of the party, but I bet my bottom dollar that the process couldn't be trusted to deliver such an outcome and you'd end up with Barry Gardiner!
