#81: Thank you for that - now I know I'm getting old because I must have slept through most of that! But at least I'm a better driver than Mr Ross, who doesn't seem to know in which direction he's heading from one minute to the next!

Yet another chance to get in front of a camera pretending she knows what the people in her constituency want.
Sadly if you only mix with a small local selection of political people who think the same as yourself you have no idea what others might think.

What I find odd is that if it is so blindingly obvious to me that Johnson's star has fallen with the public, why can't Tory MPs? If he wins this, and then loses both by elections then he really will be in trouble.

Former Tory party strategist Charles Lewington on “rebel MPs”.
“They always think that distancing themselves from an unpopular leader increases their chances of holding their seats. Instead they end up working as public affairs manager for the Cat Protection League.”

Like most Dover MPs Tory
They speak to there own , rarely go outside of those circles , so I'm sure she feels from the Tory supporters she speaks to , she and Boris had massive support .
It could be the biggest misjudgement

You're right, Keith. They are only fooling themselves. Got to get outside of the echo chamber. Johnson is finished with the public - don't be the last one to realise.

Neil
I'm with you on that
But sadly the alternative looks as dire

Put simply, my political radar tells me we are in "anyone but Johnson" territory. As such, if he (Johnson) continues, Starmer benefits by default. However, if Johnson is replaced, the Tories would benefit from an immediate bounce.

If I understand it correctly unless the plonker resigns because of the rules we are stuck with him for another year regardless of any election results.

#60 is just another one of your fantasies. If they fear for their seats (as many quite rightly do), then they will change the rules for their own advantage. They were all quite happy collectively to lie to the queen after all when it suited them. 'These are my principles, well, if you don't like them then I have others...'

Over 40% of his party have had the bottle to stand up to a bungling, dishonest, self-obsessed charlatan who is an electoral liability. Let's see what the by-elections in Tiverton and Wakefield bring shall we? Somehow I think you'll never catch up.

The numbers above suggest to me that it's going to take Labour a while too!

It's not just Labour now, Button. Things have got so bad that the red wall and the blue wall are both looking increasingly more like the Berlin wall. People really aren't that stupid at the end of the day.

Yes they are! (Remember almost 50% of people are of below average intelligence!)
Look at Thatcher. Put up taxes. Take on the unions. Put down taxes. Win election.
This year it's a quarter of a century since Labour under Blair beat a Conservative Government in power.
Now THAT's a Jubilee worth celebrating.
