Hardly surprising that it was a low turnout with only three days notice and also many people are on holiday or thinking about their holiday.

It looks like UKIP is set either to continue to be a wasp drunk on jam buzzing in the ears of Tory soft-Brexiteers, or to become a very different beast indeed.
I note that Waters's leadership bid is backed by former NF member, EDF founder, Luton Town supporter, mortgage specialist and tanning enthusiast 'Tommy Robinson'.
Waters (who recently scored a top 40 hit with her anti-reggae version of the Eric Donaldson classic 'Sharia Baby') and 'Robinson' have previous in the anti-Islam Pegida movement.
Put this together with suggestions that UKIP's (admittedly small) membership has apparently seen a 10% increase post-General Election, and you could be forgiven for thinking that plans are afoot for the bewildered party to receive a bit of a jackboot up the aris. Rightward Ho!

"UKIP's (admittedly small) membership has apparently seen a 10% increase post-General Election".
Perhaps rather than because of an anti-Islam stance people are no longer satisfied with the drawn out Brexit negotiations etc., and can see what a fudge the end product is likely to be?
Although if UKIP is set to become the inferred " anti-Islamist" party ( most unlikely ) then at the end of the day the electorate will decide whether or not such a party is required. Democracy isn't it?

Sometimes in life it's not a bad thing to be forgotten Keith, unfortunately I still can't forget the likes of Blair, Brown, Mandelson, Alistair Campbell, Corbyn, Abbott, Balls, Prescott, Thornberry and of course all of the Kinnocks.
I've had the treatment but nothing has worked!

Peter Whittle is odds on favourite to be the next leader with the Tommy Robinson endorsed lady second favourite. Unlike John I suspect that EDL/Britain first members make up the bulk of the new members. I can see their reasoning in trying to hide behind the cloak of respectability to spread their message. Many long term members will be on their summer break somewhere and a low vote turnout could spring a surprise.
Anyone remember the surge in membership of the Labour party that elevated Jezza Corbyn to the throne?

Unlike the Labour surge Howard I think people have lost interest in UKIP
John B. Whilst I wish to forget UKIP I can't name many of them as most are unknowns

Hackneyed plots with predictable outcomes, cartoon heroes, cliché-ridden scripts, token ethnic actors, distortions of history, black-and-white homespun moralities, flashy sets, vacuous philosophies, bloated budgets... Yep, Hollywood and Farage were made for each other:

Peter Whittle now 10/11 with the bookies and closing the gap Ann Marie Walters 9/5. Henry Bolton out at 10/1.

I don't know any of the cast of characters but they seem clued up on keeping the party's appeal mainstream. Winner to be announced on the 29th so voting must close soon

Despite the surge of support for Henry Bolton, Ann Marie Waters is a short priced favourite for the leadership which could well send the party into a downward spiral.

Agreed, Mr McSweeney1. UKIP leadership, forgetting their influence on the referendum debate and recognising that as done and dusted now, is about as relevant as who the next leader of the English Democrats will be. About as relevant as who will be the leader of any national party that doesn't have a seat at Westminster.

Found myself looking at my 'unsettled bets' yesterday on my online account and saw that I had gone on Nigel Farage to be the next permanent leader of UKIP (12/1) - is that still possible kippers?
If he did start a new party that would literally be the end of UKIP, as well he knows. I guess he needs a vehicle post March 2019 as we would not need MEPs - so he has to do something.
