A Local Public Enquiry is to be held in respect of the proposed Wind Farm development at Langdon. The Inquiry will be held at the Council Offices at Whitfield and is scheduled to start on the morning of 7 January 2009 and will last until around 26 January 2009.

A former employee of Norfolkline ferries who tried to smuggle 90 kilos of heroin and 10 kilos of cocaine in three cases worth £4.5 million into the UK through the Port of Dover was jailed for eight years yesterday.

A Lancashire man was sentenced to nine years imprisonment yesterday for attempting to smuggle seven kilos of cocaine with an estimated street value of £688,000 and a small quantity of amphetamine worth about £40, through Dover Eastern Docks.

A special initiative aimed at combating the loss and theft of purses in the district is being launched in Dover tomorrow (Saturday 13 December), with representatives of the Dover District Community Safety Partnership handing out free 'Clip it Safe' lanyards (clips for attaching a purse to a handbag) in Dover town centre from 10am to 3pm.

From traditional dolls and tin-plate trains, to superhero comics and action figures, items from childhood over the last 100 years have been gathered for this major display for all the family.
