A key report into appeals that went to a Parking Adjudicator shows that Dover District Council has the second highest percentage of Penalty Charges Notices (PCNs) upheld in the country, with 79% found in favour of the Council. This is according to the National Parking Adjudication Services' latest annual report.

Largest Ever Dover-Calais Ferries Ordered

P&O Ferries has signed a Letter of Intent with the Finnish shipbuilder, Aker Yards, to construct two new ships for the Dover-Calais service. At 49,000 gross tonnes, the new ships will be the largest ferries ever to operate from Dover to Calais, with the first entering service in December 2010 and the second in September 2011.

Relocation Of WW1 Submarine Begins In Dover Strait

The delicate operation to relocate the wreck of a World War One German submarine has begun in the Dover Strait, the world's busiest shipping lane. The UB38 has laid on the seabed for 90 years but in recent years has been identified as a potential risk to shipping, now that increasingly deeper draught vessels are navigating the south-west bound lane of the Dover Strait Traffic Separation Scheme.
