Pupils from secondary schools in the district will get the chance to debate in the Council Chamber, quiz Councillors, and make bids for funding for special projects for their schools, as part of a day of activities at Dover District Council on Thursday (5 November) in support of Local Democracy Week.

The team was set up in February this year and has already helped hundreds of local people access around £400,000 in additional benefits.

A 29 year old lorry driver has been jailed for ten years, after being convicted of smuggling cannabis and amphetamines worth £3,575,000 into the UK hidden under a load of ceiling tiles.

East Kent Joint Waste Project

A project that would bring changes to waste and recycling collections, reduce costs and increase recycling rates in East Kent has reached another milestone. The Joint Services Waste Project involves Canterbury, Dover, Shepway and Thanet Councils working on a ground-breaking partnership with Kent County Council.
