I'm still trying to fathom why DDC are promoting a private business that is aiming to take away work from local cab drivers that have paid DDC in order to operate.

Local services seem to be going from bad to worse, even the hitherto reliable 63 is hit and miss. One came along today 10 minutes late " out of service " 10 minutes after that one came along and took us to Priory Street then we had to change buses and wait another 10 minutes for a driver. As for the 102 don't bother looking up a timetable.

Stagecoach posted on Twitter that the 63 was stuck because of badly parked cars on South Road. For a while at least buses then went direct via Astor Avenue. The 102 is hit by the roadworks at Maxton and on Wednesday by an accident at Capel.

The roadworks at Maxton delay things by a minute or two Lew, probably a lot worse in rush hour but that doesn't explain why they get bunched up if they are all facing the same problem. I am aware of the accident in Capel yesterday but I am talking about the last couple of months.

I was with you and a few others recently when that happened Keith, getting to be a regular happening.
Meanwhile the uncomfortable seating at the new bus shelters are looking the worse for wear already with all the scratches and scores making them look old before their time.

When I was a lad (honestly I was) in the late 40's and early 50's, I was surprised to discover that buses actually ran to a timetable. I thought that they just came along as and when. Seeing in Denis's newsagents in the High Street a timetable published by Headley's of Ashford I bought one with my pocket money.
I compared the buses and the times. They were always late (or missing) then!

#431 - It's a privatised monopoly, Keith, that is accountable to no-one despite KCC's plaintive attempts. That's the choice we are left with. No choice.

I see Stagecoach have made no provision for the hordes due to visit the Regatta tomorrow. People from Folkestone and Capel are OK with a double decker every 30 minutes but people in Deal and most of dover get a small bus every hour and the ones in Dover do not run to schedule with all the extra stops than on a normal Sunday.

We hopped off the 92 today opposite the Railway Bell in order to cross the road to catch the 15 into Pencester Rd. There was a sign on the bus stop saying ‘stop suspended due to proximity of road works’. While we were walking to the Whitfield Hill stop the 15 of course sailed right past. Grrrrr. So we walked on to Pilgrims Way and picked up the 68 to Market Square. All this to avoid doing three laps of River and St Radigunds. However we still arrived in Market Square at the same time as if we had stayed on the 92. Her Indoors was pretty tight lipped about it as she’s just had a hip replaced!

Sue
You seem concerned for your friends in River who are suffering some inconvenience because there are not enough of them to make a regular service as good as you would like but showed no concern for the many in Priory and Maxton who nearly lost a service through indiscriminate parking.

It wasn’t my role as there are enough Councillors in that ward.KCC DTC and DDC plus all the members onThe Transportation Committee.
