Another surprize is the packed 61a 0630 bus that usually takes drivers up to whitfield and full of passengers has been withdrawn?

Social media is awash with people who think there will be no buses between Aycliffe and Whitfield in the future, they must think KCC are subsidising the route all day.

What is staggering is the cost per passenger on some of those routes. There must be a lot of fresh air carried around at taxpayers' expense! It will be interesting to see how many journeys get registered as commercial. Many small operators must be worried - Regent, for example, have a huge amount of KCC work, much of which is threatened. The demise of Poynters in August shows what can happen where a firm relies on these contracts.

By the way, I've only just noticed Sue's comment nearly 3 weeks ago regarding starting handles - they went out when diesel engines came in back in the 1930s!

Could be a bit of carelessness on someone's part - many parts of the list are unclear.

The BBC have been following posts on social media and will be covering in their Sunday Politics South East in 4 days time, I suspect that they have been fooled into believing that a complete wipe out of services is on the cards.

I see Rosie Duffield mentioned it (at PMQs?) in the HoC today; will have to check Hansard to read what she said.

I saw the edited highlights earlier and Rosie made a complete fool of herself, firstly blaming KCC not central Government cutting funding then having a go at Damien Green who has no connection with KCC.

To add to my earlier comment about carelessness, the list shows 111 as running to Dover which it hasn't done for many, many years. It used to serve West Hougham as a replacement for the 92.

They have corrected that Lew, Ashford - Folkestone. Just struck me about the school bus cuts where KCC charge parents for free passes, will they get a refund?

School transport is a confusing area, as some are registered services and others are contracts. Some may be registered commercially. Am I right in thinking the 3-mile rule still applies for free school transport? If it does then KCC have to find some method of getting pupils to and from school.

Charlie has now thrown his weight around with 10 other Kent MPs putting pressure on KCC to stop the cuts. All rather ironic as he and the other Tories voted for cuts in grants to councils!!

If people are confused Keith they only have to look at the timetables at bus stops and they will see which ones KCC subsidise.

KCC gross budget for the 2017/18 financial year is £2,188,000,000
Proposed bus savings £2,000,000 per year
i.e. Less than 0.1% of budget
As ever councillors getting all worked up and spending hours discussing tiny amounts of money in the scale of things while 'nodding through' much more wasteful spending. It was ever thus.

Sounds like a stalling tactic until the MPs lose interest and move on to something else. The £2, 000, 000 has to be saved somewhere.
