Consultation or not, if enough people write in to the council with articulate and well-thought-out arguments in favour of siting the new leisure centre in a particular location, DDC will have to pay attention.

I think people have misunderstood how the consultation process will take place. Firstly we have invited a member of the public Peter Ward [who instigated the Leisure Centre petition]to join the Steering Group & more importantly passed the consultation process to the Scrutiny Committee whereby the public are allowed to comment on a continuous basis as the scheme moves forward. This will be in conjunction with updates as progress moves on & I would expect a public display of a recommended scheme.

Any secret plans for the existing site Paul? I have plenty of ideas but a cable car pylon is not one of them.

None that your celebrated customers have shared with me Peter. It's still a sports centre.

We are told no decision made and it is going to consultation but heres link for public comments telling us they are planning to build it at Whitfield, its not that I don't trust them(does anybody) it's Just they treat us like idiots and refuse to address our concerns.

Stirling work from the feasibility team they don't even known where Buckland mill is, might be an indicator they did not even look at that site, see map in Ray's link

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

I am still trying to work whether Peter was being serious in Post 41, articulate and well thought arguments didn't save the pier after all.

Clearly being serious, Peter knows the council well enough to know they will always do the right thing for their constituency.

Not closed Brian it has ceased to be, it has passed on, bereft of life, it is at rest and has joined Burlington house in the sky, it is an ex pier unless of course Mr Rix has a change of heart.

There is a new yellow buoy just off the Seasports Centre which has been laid for the DWDR contractors, and looks as though it marks the end of the proposed marina walk.
Unless it was laid by the consultants who did the DDC study, and it's where they think one of the options for the swimming pool could be.
