I know I'm a bit out of touch on these things but does anyone know what the plans are for the site of the current Leisure Centre when the new one opens? I can't even find any rumours

I am told it is going to be pulled down but I also do not know.

The main rumour is that there will be a MacDonalds drive through on the site but I don't believe the local franchisee would be interested.

News update: The demolition of the former Dover Leisure Centre in Townwall Street, Dover is set to start next week

'The future use of the site is still being determined'!
Yeah, right! Surely not by the ubiquitous CityCourt Developments?

In the past i would have expected CCD to have come up with an unacceptable plan that would have been nodded through. Now however, my expectation is that they will get a very generic outline permission and sell it on for silly money and a large windfall profit, with the site remaining boarded up and undeveloped for a fair few years.

Yup. Roadside site a couple of hundred yards from the docks with 2 million plus cars passing through each year. OBVIOUSLY we must not find out how much it is being sold for due to 'commercial confidentiality'.

The old leisure centre has now been levelled off, most of the fences have been removed.
Walk over it now. before it becomes overgrown!

Does anyone know what is going on at the old leisure centre site? I haven't been out for a few days and spotted it tonight.
I thought travellers had moved in at first then when you get closer, there is security guard and fences with lots of cars parked there and a few minibuses too?
Hire cars? Cruise ship passenger parking? Just looks like another car park, which Dover obviously needs

Won't it just become housing or a car park ?
