You haven't, since its heyday as the bus drivers pre/post shift inn of choice it has not been worth venturing near. Unless you wanted a good deal on dodgy cigs or a hit of Rix's nose powder.
Still, a shame to see another one go though.

I can remember when, back in the 70s, it was one of our go-to pubs with lounge and snug always busy in the evenings. Happy Hour at the Lord Warden's bar came first obviously. Mind you, in those days The Eagle's lounge was full of Ma and her cronies sipping schooners of sherry.

I was in there one Friday night in the late 70s/early 80s. Can't say precisely when. Two meatheads bent on vengeance for something or other burst into the main bar wielding baseball bats and beat the crap out of everything and everyone. My late brother-in-law and I protected each other as best we could. My later life partner was dragged into the men's toilets by her soldier brother to keep her safe against a fight he knew he couldn't win. Both guys were brothers-in-law. Both now passed away. Such are memories.

I remember the ‘hole in the wall’ gang. Always sat in the little cubby, nice chaps.
