its coming out every day, all parties noses in the trough
Nice to see the whistleblower has now been named, the man should get a knighthood for services to the country, as opposed to michael martin who should be strung up.

Whilst MARTIN should be dealt with, so should many MP's of many parties, and although some MP's won't be standing theres a few that should be prosecuted
A radical reform of all the way dosh(our dosh)is distributed is needed urgently.
Who else is starting to suffer from MP's Expense Claim Fatigue Syndrome?

i am,bored to tears with it.
It's true it's becoming a bit draining to listen to daily, but it really matters that we keep the anger going! Those people have screwed us and then come back and re-screwed us while dribbling lies and patronising self-congratulatory drivel all over us. And then asked us to elect them. And we did. Personally I think hitting them with brooms while making them whistle colours would be too easy. Surgically removing their wallets and pensions and making them watch while we burn them would be a start.

Well just when you think youve heard it all, up pops the next miserable piece of scamming. Julie Kirkbride, she of the faintly patronising air, with a husband(Andrew Mackay) who has just announced he is stepping down following a lynch type meeting with his constituents, well it has now emerged that our dear Julie who used to be on Question TIme a lot preaching to the rest of us about how we are going wrong...is paying a sister for parliamentary work and she lives 141 miles away from Parliament as the crow flies.
You might remember, although its true fatigue is beginning to play a part...she claimed for one home, her husband claimed for the second home..what a scam, in effect they were together claiming for both residences which is strictly against the spirit of the rules and probably and presumably illegal, yet she is still there. Now this latest bit about her far away sister is the pits, but perhaps weve reached the pits already.
Julie is hanging on by her fingernails. Well lets face it, would you want to give up. Good salary, easy life, prestige, and you can claim for absolutely everything you want at any time...oooooh I fancy 17 silk cushions myself this morning..and perhaps a rubber duck.

I used to like Julie, nothing to do with politics, a bit better looking than most female MPs!
She wont survive this. As in the case of her husband, the local consitituents will determine her resignation or sacking.

PAULB
I thought I heard on the news she had also said she won't be standing at next election.
But I'v tried to point out throughout this scam this is members of all parties.
Some are hiding behind rules that are close to corruption which you or I would have been seeing the magistrate/judge by now.
Worse some have clearly even gone outside the rules and claimed for what can only be seen as illegal acts, and you or I couldn't go before a judge and say "well sorry boss I hadn't realised I had paid off my mortgage 3 years ago and still claiming"
Like a lot of things in the H.O.C. it needs proper reform, and I think now people are going to demand it.
I do think Charlie boy is playing a dangerous game, hes been making phone calls to local people(if the person i spoke to is correct) saying about our Gwyn and his expenses(which are low compared to many) but charlie boy needs to be careful cos all parties have been caught up in this, and I do hope it doesn't become a party political thing, I hope all parties will come together on this one and agree to change the system big time, the country is now demanding it

All MP's will have expenses...so in a way Charlie having never been an MP is clear and scot free from any tarnish...so its almost an easy head start in an election campaign. Bash the MP for his expenses and its difficult to see how you can lose ground. If Gwyn has say one item to focus on that doesnt read favourably, then the opposition will surely use it as they cant lose by playing such a card...never having been an MP themselves as it were.

I do fully understad where your coming from, but its cheap politics, and I thought our charlie was a little bit above that, but maybe not.
He may be a little cleaner and is lucky enough to own a number of homes already so probably won't require a second home allowance lol
but many tories and lib dems have been caught up in all this mess and it is a fine wire he is walking.
If you te;ll the evereyday person MP's basic salary most people struggling for survival will be horrified, thats without all the add ons they get.
As I say its a dangerous game he plays and unless he has decided not to claim anything, basic wage etc etc this could backfire on him

with the ones that resign, do they get any severance payments, pension rights or any other freebie?

Am I wrong or did I hear that MEPs are allowed to claim over £386.000 a year in expenses and don't even have to produce a single receipt?

You are correct Ian. MP's expenses are miniscule in comparison.

But MP's fiasco has still done a lot of damage, and has been costly to the tax payer
