It appears everything is back to normal Keith, have checked the website and a 2 course lunch with tea or coffee costs £. 5. 70 and looks to be a good varied menu. Plenty of suitable activities and services on offer and the centre is open 6 days a week, £. 6. 50 return fare if for people that need a lift.

What has happened to the Age Concern store in the High Street? Dreadful place now. Ridiculous prices way too cheap. Rudeness concerning immigrants by one female staff member in particular, out loud so they can hear and in front of other customers. Regulars not going in anymore. Two items recently bought in there for 20p each which were in fact worth £60-£100. Hardly any staff after the 7 left. Since then it has gone downhill but Riverside seems totally oblivious to it. One more staff member recently stopped attending. Come on Riverside, sort this dreadful mess out and run the store properly before it closes. Dirty floors too inside. Always grubby.

Hi Mr Care
Isn't that always a shame when staff allow personal opinions to flow in the workplace
Of course they are volunteers so it's much more difficult than a paid employee to keep this at bay
My last visit in the shop saw a tidy flow of people using the shop
OK so maybe they could charge more
But the idea is to keep it affordable whilst raising funds for the centre
Not an easy thing to do

Mr Care, I was a volunteer there until about 6 years ago when the shop was well run by Margaret, I disagreed about some of the pricing at that time being to high for some clothing as we were overflowing with some items. With regard to your 20p items I suspect they have nobody there who has the correct knowledge to identify and price valuables which was something I and another volunteer did, but we could miss items at times.
I left when the happy friendly atmosphere changed because one person wanted to be top of the chain, something I hear she eventually achieved.
I can no longer even visit because I can no longer climb that awful high entry step, we wanted a ramp put in for the elderly and disabled when I was there all those years ago.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

There is a mobile ramp to get in you just need to ask. I doubt you would go in there anyway as you've made it clear on numerous occasions how disgruntled you are with it.
Try and be positive please they are all unpaid volunteers so little overhead costs so all the money goes to the Riverside I've been told. Other Charity shops tend to have paid managers.

I did not know there is a ramp, when I was there our regular wheelchair user had to be lifted in and out by the hardworking deputy manager and another male volunteer.
I thought Mr Care was the disgruntled one going by the string of complaints, while I still promote the shop on FB even giving the phone contact number whenever I get the chance.
