Well done there John..good to see you as ever. Good luck with your latest book. Sad news there bout the ever faithful Saga Ruby but I suppose it gets ever harder to maintain these ships to optimum standard as time goes along. She certainly has the look and feel of the Gatsby era..all very popular at the moment as we know.
So always a pity.
Peter if yer checking out the price list i expect to see you whizzing around in a Beauford afore toooo long.
But back to the nauticals. Look at this sky yesterday morning !!
..picture NOT photo-shopped. This is our glorious non-summer in detailed genuine action...
Can you believe this weather above. Three prongs of lightning were shooting town in different places all at the same time. Was hoping to capture the lightning but wasnt lucky enough. The Saga Ruby is in the lower corner. At this point it is very early and light is poor, the Saga Sapphire hadnt arrived.This is actually a colour photograph believe it or not...
Yesterday evening late around 8.15pm.. a brief improvement in the last of the light and here is the Saga Ruby again.
More to follow shortly and here we are..

Definitely dont often put politics on Sea News thread but here is a direct sea fishing story. I think we all watch with deep pain at the tons of fish being discarded by quota strangled fishermen, all chucked back into the sea already dead. Total waste on a planet with food shortages. So, better news here, read on my friends read on..

Sandys Strongly Welcomes EU Fishing Deal
Laura Sandys, MP for South Thanet, welcomed yesterday's announcement by the Minister for Fisheries on the reform of EU fishing policy. The proposed changes to the Common Fisheries Policy (CFP) will mean a better deal for smaller fisherman, decentralising the decision-making process and bringing an end to discards.
Laura said: "I have been campaigning for a better deal for our south coast fisherman for a long time. I have made strong representations to the Fisheries Minister and today had the opportunity to meet with him to discuss this. I also had the opportunity to ask the Minister in Parliament yesterday about what these reforms will mean for the localisation of management and have been reassured that our fisherman will be closer to the decision-making process and will play a crucial role in this."
"Between the campaigning of our fisherman, Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall's campaign and the dedication of the Minister, discards will now be a thing of the past."
The reforms will:
· Put a ban on discarding fish that is edible and should not be wasted;
· Create a legally binding commitment to fishing at sustainable levels;
· Allow decision-making to take place by Member States so they are able to decide measures that are most appropriate for them.
"
So there we are. Better news for all.
