- 14 February 2017 00:22324436Ross Miller thank you for your help and information. The million plus I am on about is the amount of money, held by DTC , presumably from taxes etc. in reserve. Their books/ accounts are hard to follow or understand and seem to be rather fuzzy around the edges. They have about 5 or 6 cash books too and at least 2 accounts with different banks. I must admit to being rather surprised at the lack of response from the Town councillors on this forum. Do their codes of conduct not require them to be "open" when serving the town in the role they decided to stand for. How can they be bound by confidentiality when that flies in the face of everything they allegedly stand for and are answerable for? It does appear that our town clerk has a vested interest in a number of projects yet , does her role as clerk not conflict directly with a number of those interests? I don't mean to cast doubt on anybody's ethics but having everything documented and open for scrutiny disperses any possible doubt before it can even start. Tersons are involved I believe. They run a business, not a charity so they will want paying for work done. Also, if more Cllrs are going to be involved, will it become the same sort of venture as Pebbles, run by a Cllr but only viable part of the time? It comes back to the root of the problem that persists in Dover; lack of openness in most things DTC is connected with.

If any of the grizzlers on here could be bothered to attend the odd meeting they'd discover the facts instead of listening to half baked innuendo and starting malicious rumours.
Why not go in and ask Ian, he's a nice bloke, I'm sure he'll tell you all about his thriving business and the property he doesn't own.
Or would you rather have ANOTHER empty building in the centre of town?Button and Ross Miller like this - 14 February 2017 08:20324438I think many people will go to the meeting on the 22nd.Questions will be raised and clear and transparent answers must be given .Im sure that the facts re Dickens Corner are true however I'm sure there are many businesses that are struggling and would like a helping hand.The Town Clerk does seem to have her finger in many pies.I thought she was paid to help Councillors run an efficient Council.There are many organisations which currently seem to involve the same people.I have many concerns at the way public money is being used.There does appear to be conflicts of interest. Town Councillors should be seeking answers.I note some of their meetings are very short..?Guest 1862 likes this
- 14 February 2017 08:43324439We only have one Town Councillor post here and he has only been in that role for a few months so is still finding his feet. The meetings have been very short up until now but in future will be much longer as more questions are asked.

I must agree about DTC meetings being exceptionally short in duration Sue. Some are about 15 min!
As regards asking the chap who runs Dickins Corner questions about his personal business, even if I had the right to be that insensitive and personal, it's not his job to reply to questions from the general public. That is the role of DTC, especially when , as in most cases, it involves money from the taxpayers, if not going by any set rules, then surely out of common courtesy as our " representatives " - 14 February 2017 18:21324458#831 Keith Sansum has never been a Town Councillor.

You are required BY LAW to inform or notify the SHAREHOLDERS.
In this particular instance they are the PEOPLE OF DOVER ETC.
Whose money is being used and whose money it belongs to.

Cannon Street and Biggin Street looks shocking.

This Dover Town Council is not fit for purpose and the Townspeople know it.

We are Townspeople. We are not trouble makers, as one odd soul of this forum seems to think.
Many of us, and I know a lot, are very distressed at the arrogance, secretive, fearful attitude of this Dover Town Council. The Town is sinking, the High Street so sad.
