Not surprised about that Hogward as it was trying to squeeze too many flats in, they will now be haggling over a reduced number

Our small old town is slowly dying. It will soon be time for a big new shopping development to open and some of our remaining shops will re-locate,including our M&S. Others shops are just closing, including MacDonalds, where all the young people used to go.. I'll miss the town atmosphere and there are so many generic, soulless centres these days.
It was busy today and I did buy gifts, special cards and other bits, today. My granddaughters spent their pocket money, and we had dinner in Morrisons cafe.
And I bought these two , and they light up:-)
Happy Last Town Christmas!

My roving reporter tells me that the former sweet shop just up from Ladywell is yet another barber. There must be a lot of hair in Dover.

I used to love going in that sweet shop they were so nice in there, their flying saucers and liquorice comforts are really missed.

Not quite another Terry, she has moved from the Charlton Centre to a more affordable, smaller unit

I should get out more Ross!
It's definitely a wise move, the unit in the centre was too large and out of the way.

The pet shop opposite the burned out United Reformed Church has a sign in the window offering Syrian Hamsters for sale at £8 each. You have to hand it those Jihadist chaps, all masters of disguise.

Got a sign in the window saying new opening hours 0830 - 1430 hrs Monday to Saturday, that could change quickly once planning permission is given for the conversion.

Much the same problem in Whitstable:-
http://www.kentonline.co.uk/whitstable/news/big-name-stores-to-open-157580/ but having been travelling around the suburbs of Liverpool these last few days we honestly don't realise how lucky we are.

Sounds like not much has changed since I was last there in the 80s for a match at Anfield. Stopped off to get some cigarettes and this shop with boarded up windows only sold them in packets of five and groceries were spread around sparsely on the shelves. We then went into a pub and the place fell silent and everyone stared at us like it was a bar in the old wild west. Next stop was a pub in the Old Swan area of the city, seemed relatively ok, had a sip of my pint put it down and never saw it again!! Tommy Cooper would have been proud of it.
Poverty in Liverpool was a national issue at the time so it seemed natural for our supporters to wave ten pound notes in the direction of where the home fans were.

Unfortunately it often takes an 'incomer' to point out just how much Dover has going for it?

Never liked immigrants thinking they know better. Dovorians have been saying for years that DTIZ was a lost opportunity and a creative quarter or small business incubator would boost the town rather than a bland shopping mall. Not much you can you do though when the council doesn't listen.
