Well, it's going to be a barber again! The previous incarnation "Costa Barber" was rarely open.
Now's the time for all you cheapskate hirsute forumites to get a free haircut!
Terry

I bet he will do well like all the others . This morning I arrived at my usual one dead on 10 am opening time, 3 people in chairs with three waiting so I went further along to the one opposite M & S, same situation again. Finally went in the one opposite the church and waited while two more were being done. The only reason I can think of for so many barbers is that most incomers from Eastern Europe in recent years are young and like their hair cut regularly.

Does he do 'Tory Cuts'?
I've heard youngsters describing them as 'wicked'.

There is talk of the McD franchise owner at Whitfield and formerly Biggin Street opening a drive through "restaurant" within walking distance of the town centre but I can't work out where a suitable site would be.

Er, why would a drive-thru be within walking distance (although I did once queue up on foot at a drive-thru on account of t'other half being peckish)?
(Not my real name.)

I thought that was staying open until the new one at Whitfield opens Reg, maybe the franchisee is playing the long game?

I think so, maybe the co-op site or court building.

Co-op has been leased on a consecutive short term basis to a number of charities and is still owned freehold by the Co-op.
The magistrates court building sold for £910k to a property developer at auction so expect it to be subject to a planning application that will allow the owner to get a decent return on their investment, which pretty much precludes a burger bar.

Noticed this morning that the newsagent/convenience store in Pencester road was open, always closed at lunchtime Saturday and opened again Monday morning. I wonder if this is connected to their application for alcohol licence?

Went into News Inn and only one person serving, presumably the new owner. I waited in the queue for about ten minutes then gave up.

The application for converting 50 and 51 Biggin Street into flats was deferred at a planning meeting last evening.
