I understand their concern however I read my meter every so often and it’s in the pavement. If I have had company I know my bill will be higher and if the meter ticks up too high I cut down on use of washing machine.I reckon to only use so much whether it’s water or heating .

A different take on retail, I wonder if our museum sells much.

From the link - rings true.
"Worst affected were clothing stores, specialist shops and restaurants. Some stores are doing better – there has been an increase in cafes, tattoo shops and hair and beauty salons, for example – but in Sheffield you can see the net effect. Fargate has lost an electronics store, a plus-size clothing retailers, a video games store and countless eateries.
On nearby Devonshire Street, home to a warren of independent shops and an increasing number of places to get a new trim, ink or a soy latte, the busiest haunt on a January weekday is the 200 Degrees cafe."

That surprizes me as I thought they had packed up after being banned from Facebook and Twitter. I just assumed that many of them had gone over to UKIP after Batten took over the leadership.

W.H. Smith have a notice in their window saying that the shop is being refurbished which seems to say that they are here for the long term. Considering that they are in the throes of pulling out of some town centres to concentrate on their lucrative port/airport/rail terminus outlets it is a vote of confidence in our town centre.

Carpet was changed last year, they had to wait for years before doing it as the roof leaked.

I,m glad they are staying but surprised as it never seems very busy for such a big shop.It must cost a fortune to run it.

At long last the re-surfacing of Biggin Street is due to start with a sign saying work will commence on the 18th of this month and take 11 weeks to complete.
