It will be interesting to see the reaction of the Poles who settled here in 2004 and after, some of them running their own small businesses. Many have been saying that the atmosphere in the UK has changed since the Referendum and are unsure of their future here. Many had planned to buy their own property initially but found it out of their reach meaning they have no real ties here.

Of course not, Reginald. Every person voting leave will have had their own reasons. But given all the noise about immigration - it would indeed be ironic.

My post was about free movement within the EU Peter, nothing to do with Bob's chums waiting for a water taxi to take them to our sceptic isle.

Howard.I fully understand the point in your post.
The financial guy from Poland said there might as well be open borders because pay has gone up in Poland /Hungary and he indicated people are staying in those 2 countries.
No mention of cash in hand car washers from Bulgaria /Romania.

Don't often agree with Vince Cable but I think he has got this right. The two main parties are so split on the issue that we could end up with a second Referendum.

With politics a lot can happen in eight months for the good as well as the bad, we all know the press prefer bad news to good.

Maybe he should ask where in the rules does it say that a Member State has to pay compensation on leaving and then ask to see the audited books?

Well, Whitehall is going to be surprised if indeed there is no plan for a 'no deal' scenario, because some of them are working their little socks off on just that issue.
There's never a cork around when you need one - fortunately I rarely do.

After watching the farce unfold after the Referendum it seems clear to me that David Davis is far and away the best person to head our negotiations, his pragmatism means that he wants the best deal for the UK without antagonising the EU negotiators. Too many on our side irrespective of party have their own political ambitions overriding the good of our country and many from the bureaucracy want to hurt us even if hurts Member States economies.

On Radio 4 today a chap explained that the Repeal bill would effectively rubber stamp all the European laws/directives into UK law for simplicity and then over a period of time but then I read that the Government were deleting things like employment rights and environmental bits and bobs before putting it to the house.
I think we all know how that will pan out.
