This must all date back to when Henry was warring(correct spelling) in the Old Yugoslavia, ripping down organised crime's recruitment posters put a stop to many homicidal maniacs joining up.

All will depend on the voters, will they be like sheep and vote along party lines or for who they hope/think will be best at the job.
Neither way guarantees a councillor who will be any good.

Going by what we have seen so far Labour and UKIP will be out in force this weekend despite the fact if either of their candidates win they will just do the bidding of the Mayor and Town Clerk like most of the others. Unlikely I know but it would be interesting if Mr Philp springs a surprise

That is quite an assumption Howard, I guess you must know something those of us who are actually voting do not.
They can canvass as much as they like my vote was posted this morning.

I just know what is in the public domain Jan and before Keith was elected last year full council meetings with lengthy agendas were finished in 10 or 15 minutes, hardly enough time to agree the minutes of the last meeting, read out the apologies for absence and ask if anyone has a vested interest in any of the agenda items.

Well before I joined last October the tories/indies had a majority of 12
this could well be down now to 9-9
bearing in mind 3 indies/tories now sit outside this group and 1 indy long term sick it's not looking good for Roger Walkden being mayor next May
The present mayor really did stitch him up.
If Ben gets in it will worry labour who cant hold seats in there safest areas
if ben loses he will be worried on losing his district seat in 2 years
in phelps wins lookout for long meetings, and lots of battles
if sawbridge wins look for some interesting debates that could well put a number of cllrs on the spot.
if labour wins if the present ones are anything to go by look out for more stifling of debates, lack of democracy
So lets see

Good turnout for the final Labour canvass in Tower Hamlets and St Rads on Sunday, I suspect that Ben Glayzer may nick it in the former and have absolutely no idea in the latter.

I attended the trades council meeting tonight where the labour chair is already saying they will win both seats.
It does make me hope they fall short on one of them

If true the candidate is wasting her time as Mr Philp is hardly likely to take many votes from Labour. The Town Clerk is purely an employee so can live or come from anywhere, the only criteria is being the best person for the job.

As stated numerous times on numerous threads there is no qualification requirements under law to be a Town Clerk...

I don't know where and when the count is but I am guessing that it will be at DDC's office in Whitfield tomorrow and they will get some lowly officer to give up 10 minutes of his/her lunch hour to count all the votes in the three by- elections.

Haven't seen the article Keef but as we know Ms Wood is devoted to the Maxton, Elms Vale and Priory ward, just a matter of her getting a Satnav to find where it is.
