Who cares? He's gone from the local scene and is absolutely no loss whatsoever.
"Last month, police arrested an unnamed Conservative former minister on suspicion of rape. He was released on bail until November."
Next scandal about to erupt. Anyone know any French?

I care
Public office is about being honest, setting examples and doing the right thing. political views are secondary. When elected officials breach the trust of their office we should all care - and while some may forgive, we should not forget.

Indeed. But Charlie's failings in that regard were established long ago and compared with what is happening on the broader political scene, they pale into insignificance. 'Public office is about being honest' - in the current climate that's irony at its best.

Quelle surprise. Another of the many predictions of the local Tories proves to be ludicrously misguided.

... and RB take note - described as a sexual predator. Judge’s words.
Sorry for his kids but having worked with Charlie for several years in London - it came as no surprise.

You are deluded Sue. You don't get two years jail time for charming people.

I've read some bigoted drivel on here but this takes this biscuit. In other words 'he was one of us, champion of the local party, how could he conceivably have done anything wrong'. Please put aside your blinkers for once and face the reality.

Personally, I'm awfully worried that 'our' Charlie, being a member of the local party, might affect my rise up the greasy pole of politics, and shall be working behind the scenes, to get him suspended or ideally thrown out of the party........

Best advice I was ever given, Bob, "Be nice to people on the way up, and they'll be nice to you on the way back down".
