Lizz Truss is a good example - she's simply saying what she thinks the majority of a tiny subset of the population wants to hear, no matter how out of touch it is with reality. I guess she'll just have to abandon it all once she takes up office.

Surely it is important what the membership want as they are part of the selection process and decide who us simpletons actually get to vote for, a bad choice usually means a poor government.

This all appears to be about interference in the selection process by certain regional officers with their own agenda; that mis-aligned with the desires & wishes of the locla party exec etc.
All very Starmeresque control freakery especially when coupled with the purging of members who dont agree or even worse criticise Starmer on social media.

Dear dear , iv been mentioning this for over a year
On Starmer and when the party is heading .
It's a bit late to complain.
Having seen how the regional and national party works this decision won't be overturned
But that is today's Labour party .

I wholeheartedly disagree. I want each political party to go into a corner and stay there until they decide what it is they stand for and then tell me (all party members singing in unison from the same hymnsheet) why they are right (not why the others are wrong). Then I'll choose between them. Otherwise everyone is either
a) simply going to promise the earth, or whatever it is they think I want or
b) promise nothing but say the others are rubbish.

You need to get out more......
Across the country more and more people are just not voting .
This will affect labour more than the Tories .

Now Brian your slowly starting to understand with your last comments .
The non voters will put Tories back in .
But you have to weigh this up against is it worth electing a second rate Starmer Tory party ?
Bob come give us your prediction on the general election result.

While sitting firmly on that political fence at the moment my prediction is for a hung Parliament.
The big problem is not one of us knows what will happen in the next few months with global finances even though the pundits and party supporters love to waffle on with their continued guess work.

keith just seen the polls,
labour 54%
conserative 24%
if the election was now labour would have a large majority in the house. work it out for your self.

Quite a number of of prior elections labour well ahead in polls then lost
Don't forget the national media and big business machine hasn't started yet to pull labour apart

This is all about the Tories pressing self destruct. The French media suggesting it really is the case that they know they are going to lose the next election, so are feathering the nests of their cronies a little bit more. Astonishing how they've gone from an 80 seat majority to this!
