Unsurprising really David. Just heard that from another Red source.
Keith'll walk the streets tirelessly for Gordon's cause.

I see I've had a post deleted while #33, full of falsehoods, remains. Oh well.
The only reason any candidate will stand against Elphicke this time around is an ego trip, they have zero chance of winning.

That is not true, yes it would help to win,but that is not the full picture,It never has been about a ego trip, for myself funding is hard to find so going it just for a ego trip would never happen.I know from the pass I would not win .I have no more to say at this time because it might not happen.

Cruella has decided not to join in any debate should the election go ahead. Within her rights but the country has a right to know what her plans are for the next 5 years. Camouflaging her future policies by mentioning the word "Brexit" every 5 minutes is not the answer.

According to Paul I should stand for election so is this the time to put myself forward as an Independent under the slogan DDB (Dover Deserves Better)?

I haven't got anyone else I want to vote for so you'll get my vote!

Problem is Andrew you don't appear to know which level of government you seem to be targeting. If you had stood for KCC you might have made the right decision. DDC have little or no resource & central government won't deliver what you strive for because you'll be caught up with every single interest group plus national issues & a huge constituents workload that'll be driven crazy from what I've seen.
Don't waste your money on the constituency.

As usual posters just giving wild comments my understanding is(and I'm no wiser on the information front as I'm no longer part of labour) Labour hasn't yet chosen it's candidate.
I hope they choose someone that can gain Labour voters P Wallace is i'm sure a lovely chappee but not MP material, should concentrate on holding onto his council seat.
So from labour there's been no decision.
I have to say on the hustings at last general election I was highly impressed with the lib dems candidate, it was sad she got such a low vote due to the national scene she deserved better.
Charlie will win easily here(whether paul w wants it or not lol)
Although Im in favour of candidates sometimes the maverick candidates like some posters on here who post they have stood before never won an election, it is democracy but can often hve the very result they wouldn't want.
This could still backfire for T May who many locals are complaining at cost of another election
they we should consider
; 1;l voters to remain coming together to get her out
2; the 30 Tory MP's being still investigated
3; collapse of UKIP and where those votes go
4; government of day and how they are seen in the communities

I would think the Labour party would ask Gordon to stand but doubt whether he might accept. He is presently fighting hard to keep his seat at KCC and no doubt has plenty of casework in his District role in the kingdom of Aylesham. Peter or John could gain valuable experience if either were selected but as both are working full time they may not be interested.

It was not an entirely serious post, Paul. I am well aware of the cost of a deposit and that Charlie is nailed on for the constituency.
I am not in a position at present to put myself up for any kind of post, however elevated or humble, but shall continue to make my contribution in practical ways and via the forum.

The Shadow Chancellor has fired the first salvo in the campaign by announcing that the rich would have to pay more income tax under Labour and when pressed as to what constituted being rich he replied £70,000 and above p.a. Didn't sound that rich to me as MPs earn roughly that and still have to dip into expenses to make ends meet and the average family doctor is on around £.100,000 pa. Upon checking I found that only 5% of the population meet that criteria so therefore must be considered rich for tax purposes.

So the Labour candidate will be imposed, not a local decision. Should be fun.

"going to be a long 50 days"
Seems to have been going on for the last couple of years so another 50 days is nothing.
On top of that there will be days, months if not years of post election and Brexit waffle and they wonder why people get turned of by politics and politicians with their petty tit for tat comments.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

Hi Jan
Not sure where that comments was aimed at;
At the last general election hustings when the candidates were putting forward there parties or there view on a subject people were becoming engaged, when the top table started to diss each other people switched off.
