I met a former UKIP leader some years back here in Dover. It was Lord Pearson and I stuck my hand out to greet him and he stuck his down as I was in a kneeling position of course. I said "delighted to meet you my lord" and he replied " can't think why dear boy, can't think why".

Well hasn't this all got interesting. We now have two genuinely divergent visions of the future of our country. This hasn't really happened since the election of 1983,and please I don't need reminding how that went.It really looks like the cosy convergence of the neo-liberal consensus that has hold sway over our politics since that election has finally come to an end and in all honesty it is down to uncle Nigel.

Coincidentally I was dining with Lord Pearson the other week, and when I told him of my Dover connection he recounted much the same tale about meeting you. He says it's the cleanest he's ever had his car washed.

Farage has just announced he definitely won't be standing, until he changes his mind that is.

Charly could have a fight on his hands if no UKIP candidate to bleed off the labour vote?
still a significant potential of people who will not vote conservative still up for grabs for the right candidate?

will not matter who it is Keef?
a UKIP candidate will give a home for ex-labour voters angry at a party that's seen to have betrayed them on immigration and all things EU.

Keith B a Party should always be sensitive to it's core support. It should never take for granted those that have decided to vote for them.A Party should also never be so remote as not to reflect the genuine concerns of those that have previously voted for it.I hope lessons have been learned, but we will have to wait and see.

they have no concept of the problems or wishes of the working class, most of the candidates have never worked in the real world, or struggleth pay the rent.

Who will be the Labour Candidate?
Does Cllr Heron know?
Perhaps it's Sebastian Corbyn, son of Jeremy? Waiting to put his parachute on and following the example of Stephen Kinnock being parachuted into a possible safe seat.
For safety reasons it definitely won't be Cllr Mike Eddy dangling on a nylon string.

In regards to many M.P.s not coming from the real world Keith B.I totally agree with you.Howevet, that is only one of the many things that needs to change with regards to our parliamentary process.I would also get them out of London, cut the supplemented bars and make the whole process more accountable and that's just to start, but hey I am funny like
