It's possible to argue that the heritage of its "heritage position" is somewhere between a pissoir and gasometer.

it could be argued that democracy indeed has been done as there were approximately 300 objections out of a local population of c33,000.
One could equally suggest that the silent majority cared neither way but their ambivalence outweighed the vocal minorities commentary in the minds of the committee.

To be fair I think that many of those who were quietly against did not object because they thought their opinion carried little weight, plus big business usually win if extra local employment is a factor.

The petrol station though was built just before the hover flew so wasn't inspired by it as some suggest

My objection to this is purely and simply that Dover doesn’t need anymore fast food outlets - I think that’s also true of many towns, Canterbury is now overrun with them, fewer and fewer places to do actual shopping. It will be interesting to see what happens with the traffic on Townwall Street when the port experiences delays.

Can get very busy down there at times, lots of cars trying to get in lane round to St james,n waiting at Townwall st traffic lights, have witnessed a few traffic jams there. All it needs is one impatient lorry to the docks block the way across the traffic lights n then no one will be moving.
