In reply to posts 479/480,its hardly an ideal place to have a second hand shop as they sometimes can cause abit of disruption to traffic in the high street when they park right outside to load and unload.

No way there will be enough room at no 83 for all the clutter they have at the old sorting office!

We are an independent record shop in Dover, Kent. Specialising in used Vinyl Records & Music CD's.
Come down to the Dover music shop to buy second hand vinyl you're going to get a bargain....
We are situated at 8 London Road, Dover, Kent, CT17 0ST.
Opened in May it says on their website, which means I'm not very observant.

I think Humminbird started off as Plantation records.

I think that was in the local press when it opened and vinyl seems to be making a comeback - I still think that the best sound comes from it assuming no scratches. There are businesses manufacturing old style record players and selling them cheap.
If my memory is correct a similar shop opened in Worthington St 5 or more years ago but didn't last.

What was the name of the record shop on the corner of Wood Street ? If I remember it was painted brown inside and had little places you could listen to the records.

I find that rather surprising as it always seems busy, very popular with youngsters who usually have more disposable income.

Getting back to 83 High Street went past on a bus today and there was a very eye catching display at the front.

Sigh of the times sorry to say,
As most of us agree we need a smaller town centre with all the shops right at the very top moving down into it ,but to do that the small shop keepers will need help with funding over a long time and lower rents for some years not just a week or two.Dover shops in the high st are over a mile from start to the end,

That always seemed fairly busy to me, certainly no shortage of cafes and coffee houses around there.

Noticed a little while back that the games shop in Priory Street was shuttered up, hopefully it is only temporary.
