Noticed this morning that where Mobile phone mechanics were has now been let out as yet another barber shop.

Yes it's too high. But some idiot will pay it.

Quite a long queue outside Rook's earlier with people collecting their pre-ordered meat.

Was in town this morning and it was totally dead I was expecting people to be buying stuff ready for get togethers this evening, but seems to be a thing of the past. In contrast Folkestone was quite busy this afternoon with their market stalls and fairground rides stretching from Debenhams up to Guildhall Street. Plus the chap with his owls was in attendance to the delight of children and adults alike.

Since the turn of the year I have never seen the town so quiet. Even allowing for the post Christmas lull London Rd was desolate late morning, I did notice that the shop that used to be Veness had people working inside but the old Central Cafe is still empty and the building to the side seems to be decaying. The experts are predicting another slump and that consumer debt is so high we can't look to the retail trade to cheer things up.

With the weather the way it has been I expect a lot of people have only gone out when they really needed to.

Good to see a few more shops opening in Dover on Sunday, including the new Rooks in Market Square. Not sure I've seen this advertised anywhere, so if folks are looking for something for a nice Sunday roast!

Wasn't aware of that whether it will draw people to Market Square is another thing altogether. If my memory serves me correctly they used to open during the Summer in their old location primarily to sell their delicious snacks.

I see some construction activity going on at the old Hovertel site in Snargate St, anyone know what's going there?

Seems to have been work going on at that site on and off for ages. In Poundland earlier and they are now doing basics like milk and tea bags buy one and get another half price. It means 7 pints of milk for £.1. 50 - can't be much going back to the dairy farmer.

Think you'll find theyve been doing that for some time, we were getting our milk there for a while but found it went off far quicker than from the supermarkets

Not had that problem myself as usually there is 7 - 10 days leeway on the "use by" date.

We thought it might have been the fridge for a while but went back to morissons milk and were getting almost an extra wk, we concluded it must be down to shop storage as it was over the summer.

Looks like we have put the mockers on Poundland, no milk for the last three days and some of the other shelves seem a little short of stock.
