FWIW had a tour of DTIZ site yesterday. Most of the 'sheds' now complete so expect fitting out by various occupants to start V shortly.
Grand opening February(ish).

Is it just a rumour that Marks and Spencer are keeping the town store as a non-food one?

I've heard that rumour too but the food bit is lot busier than the clothing bit and I cannot see them using the whole store for just clothing.

I have not heard the rumour but if true maybe they plan to have a larger home style range in the extra space.

Near the Co-op funeral parlour and nearly opposite the Age UK shop.

Just read that a company has taken over the Store 21 unit with the intention of selling much the same stuff as Store 21 did. Hopefully they will employ people who lost their jobs there previously.

I'm a little bit wary Keith with it being the time of year when people suddenly appear and corner the Christmas market then disappear afterwards with rent owing and sometimes wages not paid. I don't know who the company is but they intend to keep the Store 21 facia.

Handwritten sign outside the old Store 21 unit simply saying "opening soon", no indication of who the new tenants are.
Meanwhile the former New Appointments Group building in Priory Street has been vandalised with the chipboard front door smashed in

Sad to see that MCL Graphics in Church Street has closed after 26 years trading.

The lease was up for renewal and after years of doing the same thing the owner decided it was time for a change. It was a good shop and i often used it to have sign boards etc made.

Store 21 is open for business with limited stock and a sign telling us that more is on order and will be available soon. They seem to be using the rails etc from the previous tenants and the labels that say "Today you pay". Only noticed two staff but one was a long term employee in the shop before so hopefully others will return.

Costa Barber on London Road was only rarely open. Looks like it's morphing into a kinky underwear shop!

Thank you for the link, Karlos. It would be interesting to know how much 50/51 Biggin St went under the hammer for. Does anyone know the name of the auctioneer? I presume it had nothing to do with Tersons. I'm guessing that this was the property which Graham Tutthill refers to LoveDover being outbid on.
