The DFT says they are still committed to the lorry park but at the same time insist that Manston airport is on standby. I doubt that anyone from the department has taken a drive down to Manston to see for themselves.

I daresay you're right, Mr McS. "Obvious" solution pending the lorry park, once you spot (I didn't) that the government, then newly-elected with a workable majority, was going to respond to Kent voters professing severe inconvenience when cross-channel services are affected.
Voter: Dear Minister, please get these lorries off the motorway so I can use it for commuting.
Minister: Dear Voter, of course - we'll put 3,600 lorries in a £250m field alongside the motorway then.
Voter: Dear Minister, I protest about 3,600 lorries in a field anywhere near me.

More bad news about Brexit from Evening Standard (editor Gideon Osbourne) - house prices in London to become slightly more affordable.

Good idea Howard, put my name down, but who exactly would be paying us the two hundred quid to attend?

I caught a bit on a news channel a day or so ago where a chap pointed out that remain voters were usually better educated than those who voted to leave the EU, not surprising as most would benefit from staying in.
Leaving aside those running businesses fuelled by cheap labour the rest are hooked by the Romanian gardener, skivvy from Hungary, nanny from Slovakia and the Lithuanian that washes cars on the cheap.
All the above live in abject poverty to keep the dinner party set happy.

Amazing, chaps like that. I can understand that they know the make up of leave, remain and 'I'll go along with whatever you others decide' votes in each constituency. But they don't know which way I voted, whether I actually did, nor my name, gender, age, marital and employment status, address, income or how many GCSEs I have - most of which I have problems with myself. I can only assume they work for Tescos, who seem to know everything about me, including what I had for breakfast yesterday - very handy when you start losing your marbles, saves having to keep notes. Or getting the staff to.

"the lack of progress is a understatement, its non exsistant so far."
And that is exactly just what the EU wants Brian. It's called "punishment" for daring to have the temerity to leave. The only important thing in all of this situation to the EU officianardos is to make an example of us to other members in order to preserve their project of destroying individual nation states and promoting the EU dictatorship. They couldn't care less about job losses in other parts of Europe, that is obviously of no significance to the shysters at the top table.
As for the CBI and their forecast of companies moving jobs to Europe, well, they have a good record of forecasting don't they??
If in fact that did ever occur, which I doubt very much, I would like to know which companies we're actually talking about so where possible we can boycott them and wish them well on their move!

As evidenced by the high long term unemployment of young people in Southern and Eastern Europe.
Now we can expect high unemployment in the big economies of Western Europe to keep egos and massive incomes in Brussels intact.
Despite great efforts from our MP our betters are either not aware of what is coming or they don 't really care as their income is safe.

The PM bows to internal pressure and appoints another "Leave" campaigner to the cabinet.

The discovery that it’s possible to unexpectedly have several meetings with world leaders whilst on holiday has led to travel agents being ‘overwhelmed’ this morning.A spokesman for the Association of British Travel Agents said members were being swept off their feet by enquiries about two weeks scuba diving in Koh Samui combined with an hour of face time with Angela Merkel and Narendra Modi.
Meanwhile, an all-inclusive ‘sun and trade’ package deal involving five-star accommodation, all drinks and meals, and three meetings with the Saudi Prince of your choice is proving remarkably popular with young holidaymakers.“It’s been a real boost for the holiday industry which has been in the doldrums lately, but the opportunity to get a tan, cop off with someone on a drunken night out and discuss people trafficking issues with the Turkish foreign minister is a real pull for the hip, twentysomething crowd,” said ABTA spokesman Simon Williams.
“Ministers always say their overseas trips are to boost trade, but I’ve never seen it work so effectively before.“We’ve been deluged with calls this morning from Washington DC for our ‘Sun, Sex and Security issues’ package trip to St Petersburg.”
